So I sent some text messages around... this is all abandoned, but I'm not for sure if it has been cleaned up. Tall pines block my view from all sides.

That's the old Fernald site, it was part of a big cleanup (it used to process nuclear fuel). I think it's all been remediated into wetlands within the past couple years, and they build Ohio's first LEED Platinum building there, a visitor center, if you want to check that out.

Yeah, I was out tracing an old C&O sub., and had forgotten that it was out that way. Pretty interesting, when was it closed?

There is a pretty nice testle that is abandoned out there that I may still check out...

I think it closed in 1989, and has been slowly taken apart and remediated since. I bet it would have been pretty secure when the buildings were still there, though (up until pretty recently), since it did process uranium for weapons.
