My wife has it..... now there will be no more intercourse until after the baby is born (hopefully safely) in February. Since I'm married with two kids already, this basically means No Sex.... the other fun times stopped years ago

I had placenta previa with my last baby. Just remind her to keep a careful eye on any bleeding and cramping.

Will she be getting NST's or ultrasounds leading up to the due date?

After the next Ultrasound in a couple of weeks, they will determine if it has migrated up. The doctor's opinion is that it is way too low for this time (26 weeks I think) and that at the next Ultrasound it will still be too low. Then there will be weekly Ultrasounds.

edited for spelling.

I had ultrasounds every month of my pregnancy with BB#2. My placenta migrated a total of 1cm the whole time I was pregnant and obviously ended up being a C-section.

A plus side to placenta previa is no annoying vag exams! Yey!

Yeah, those vag exams are very annoying

The problem is that I can not perform any of the vag exams until after the baby is born.... this is about ME dammit!!! (note the sarcasam)

The doctor does not want my wife to have any orgasams until after the baby is born... I would kill myself. She is going to be extra grumpy for the rest of this pregnancy.

I'm not worried seriously about myself... my wife is a very good wife (all jokes aside) however, I feel bad for her

Wow I am sorry, I guess I was very lucky not to have any issues during my pregnancies.

Really, they say good things come to those who wait. What a wonderful thing to have to wait for. Maybe 14 weeks of just cuddle time is not so bad . Keep us posted.

Cuddle Time!!! Seriously LOL

I thought cuddle time was just the reward I gave out for my wife being so 'nice' to me for the past 2 minutes

Well a low laying placenta could be fatal to the baby if a vaginal delivery is attempted. I think in this case, it's a good thing that it was found out.

But I totally agree with you. It seems everyone has SOMETHING wrong going on these days.

She will deliver by C-section anyway.... with our first child, natural delivery was attempted and the doctors gave up 36 hours later when our daughter's heart rate started to drop. They did a c-section and told my wife that her hips were too narrow for vaginal delivery and that future deliveries would have to be c-section because of possible tearing of the uterus. Our second child wsa delivered by scheduled c-section, we knew the date weeks ahead of time. This child is a scheduled c-section delivery also, we just do not know the date yet.

Good luck to you both!

As far as medical intervention, I have to agree. Sam Levinson once said "My mother had 9 kids and no theories. My wife and I have one child and 9,000 theories." It does make it difficult.

Recent ultrasound shows the placenta is still too low, but it has migrated up a little bit. They don't want another ultrasound until 4 weeks from now.
