I'm sure lots of people here play instruments but I'm wondering if anyone actually writes/composes/performs their own original music.

I've been writing for a few years now - mostly acoustic stuff.

I have vocal ability, I can fool around on a guitar, and use keyboards and such.

Singing is what I'm good at though. Amazing considering I hardly talk to anyone.

If anyone wants to do some Misfits covers, I can do Danzig-style vocals pretty well.

I've been messing around with an nylon classical guitar. I figure that once I can play this well, making a transition to an electric will be a snap.

The last instrument I had was a wonderful plastic Ibanez bass. I know, PLASTIC? this thing sounded soooooo nice. I spent some of my college money (<never went to college>) on this and was extremely happy to finally have a nice instrument. The unfortunate thing is that when I moved to Chicago, I had trouble finding a job, temp work wasn't paying the bills (back to that no college thing again) and I needed money desperately. I would up selling the instrument for much less that I would have liked. That whole experience has soured me for some time on playing. Hopefully I can dig myself up from the ashes and get another wonderful bass. we shall see...

I've been playing/composing for a few years now. I'm a drummer by trade but I also play guitar and a little piano. Mostly I use my computer to compose with though. It's a good medium for the apartment dwelling musician/composer.

Well looks like I'll be singing with a band or two or three soon...

A friend was looking for singer for his band, and I threw myself up for that.

I'm looking to get some growling done for another acquiantance's death metal band.

I have a plan for me and Hippie High to form our own side-project band, with me on vocals and HH on drums. I'm thinking Slayer screaming with a groove.

I'm also looking to contribute to any local punk bands and another acquaintance's metal/insane band that I hear has been making some great music lately.

I expect to be belting out Soundgarden covers in no time.

Yeah.

I play classical guitar, and I've been known to piddle around on the electric., too. Most of my stuff doesn't translate into electric very well though. I may actually have something I'm doing for a friend released under some smalltime label. She's really into piano and violin stuff. So I'm helping out by writting something for a lullaby she's writting. Real hard-core eh? ^_^

I know this dosn't count as being a musician but I'm currently recording a demo for a local band. They are acctually very good and a lot of fun to work with. I should try to post a few of their songs on here.

I've gained a great deal of respect for recording technicians. Some friends of mine play local clubs and have a small lable CD out.. (if it's not out it's in the last stages of refinement) and the guy that works the studio their sessions were in is an extrodinary fellow. My hat's off to you Tmt, you're as much a musician as anyone else in my books.

I've been playing classical guitar for about 2 years now . I like to play either Old baroque classical music, especially Bach ,or Modern Jazz-Latin-influenced classical music, composers like Augustin Barrios, Heitor Villa-Lobos,Antonio Lauro etc.

Decoy_MM, what do you play on classical guitar?
