So did anybody hear about the 18 year old taking over the number 20 Home Depot car next year? I can't imagine what it would be like, 18 years old and driving a Joe Gibbs Nextel Cup car.

I think I can honestly speak for many people that we've had enough of NASCAR. at one point, i paid attention to it, but that was when each car and team had a personality. I am old enough to remember the Bobby Allisons, Cale Yarborough, Dale Earnhardt... they had character and the cars were rugged somehow.
Now, they are caricatures of the cars they are supposed to be with decals for headlights... etc.

I think the homogenization of the sport is the reason that their ratings and interest is plummeting.

You want real racing? Rally, Drifting, American LeMans, Japanese Touring Car, Australian series... those are where racing is at.

And it's not just NASCAR suffering... no one really gives a shit about NHRA either anymore.

I think where Nascar made their mistake was making the sport too safe. It's a shitty thing to say but the cars are almost idiot proof these days. I still enjoy going to the races here in Phoenix twice a year. Can't stand to watch it on TV though.

I flushed a bag of Skittles down the toilet. It was like watching an entire NASCAR race in eleven seconds.

Show up at 9:30 with 15 dollars cash and your fingers crossed.

As crazy as this sounds, I would rather watch 'Pinks All Out' than any of the other motorsports.

It's real people, real racing (heads up, run what ya brung), and real cars. There are no sponsors or multi-millionaires or silly bullshit. It is very enjoyable.

The only reason NASCAR took off like it did, was due to the whole CART/IRL division thing. Now that CART merged into IRL, NASCAR will struggle to continue to be America's top motorsport. Im glad.

NASCAR is sucking wind again... the ratings for the Daytona 500 were in the toilet again. People actually got up and left before the end of the race!

as i said a years ago, nascar is just a parody of auto racing...

Bill Weber, who was TNT's lead NASCAR race announcer before being suspended before a race in July and not returning, says he's performing as a magician. "It's a passion I hope to turn into a profession," says Weber, who says his TNT contract wasn't renewed. "I hope to continue sports announcing, but this is something I've wanted to do for a long time." Weber, saying he worked some NBC motor sports last year, adds he's "waiting for NBC to get back from Olympics to see what motor sports opportunities they might have."

You betcha
