You'd think people who work in the food industry would get better training regarding food allergies.

You'd think, but they're not.

I'm a waitress. I have two stupid cooks who wear latex gloves. One tried to hand me something, wearing latex gloves and I said, "Oh my god, you can't come near me with those gloves. Have somebody without gloves on put that food on a new plate."

What does that fucker do?

HE FUCKING SNAPS THE GOD DAMNED GLOVE OFF!!

I didn't have my epi-pen with me at the time (had to get a doctor's note to have my purse @ work with me for benadryl and epi) so I literally just RAN. Had to get the fuck out of there, and then didn't go back near his area (for fear of the latex powder still getting stirred up) for the rest of the night.

Fucking stupid fuck.

Edit: God, just thinking about this stuff makes my bronchials hurt like they're dilating, ugh.

I get that way when I go into a mall around Christmas. Fucking Cinnamon smelling candles. They don't do anything to me but give me a physiological reaction, and I freak out.

Of course, those fake ones don't really have the real cinnamon oil in it that I'm allergic to, but it still fucks my mind up.

Also, people chewing cinnamon gum. There is no REAL cinnamon in it, but it just gives me the willys

Nah, it is pretty typical.
It is kind of like a backwards form of panic disorder:
-Your harmless mental fear causes the physical symptoms of anaphylaxis.
-Versus harmless and unrelated physical sensations causing mental fear of a panic attack in someone with PD.

Although extremely unlikely and rare, I believe that there are cases where people have essentially tricked themselves into anaphylactic shock.

Kind of like "ghost pregnancies" (I think that's what they're called, or "false pregnancies"), where the woman truly believes she's pregnant and so her body develops as though she were but... come to find out, there is not actually a developing fetus, at all?

Our minds and bodies do some crazy things, eh? (Can you see why I love psychology so much, yet?)

It's alll crazy I tell ya. But I've heard of phantom pregnancies before. Some women actually start lactating!

I have never 'tricked' myself in to anaphylactic shock.. but more of a panic attack THINKING I may go into it. Stupid minds. Crazy!

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets those reactions.

We have Honey Walnut antibacterial soap where I work. There's nothing "walnut" about it, except the name.

When people use it and I smell it, my throat gets scratchy and my ears feel clogged; a reaction thats all in my mind.

Oh good, I'm not the only crazy one here *kidding*
