1911's are awesome. I bought mine and have practically forgotten all of my other hand guns. If you get one you will never regret it. Its a time proven battle tested design that will never let you down if taken care of

My next handgun will be some variety of short barreled 1911 to go with my CCW permit.

I saw a compact 1911 on gunbroker last night. It was so cute and tiny.

EDIT: ahh hell, here it is http://gunbroker.c...asp?Item=115376565

Actually no. I tried on a couple of 1911's at a few gun stores and id need to have some custom work done to the grip. The bottom is sharp and digs into my palm. I decided id wait until i could find an affordable 1911 and put some money toward a gunsmith to fit it to my hand. I did shoot a GI model at the range 3 weekends ago wearing gloves, and i loved it.

I purchased a PAIR of brand new Taurus PT1911s for $700 and change from a guy who'd lost his job last fall.
For what they cost, they are excellent weapons.
The Brasilians make a fine weapon.

Well I finally got a compact 1911 to go with the full size I already had. It should go with my new CCW permit pretty nicely too.

A few pictures

Its not too bad certainly not as good as the 5" version but that's no surprise. I haven't got a chance to put any 185 gr. loads through it only 230 gr. I don't know if that will make much difference. I've been meaning to sit down with a box of each and see what it does on paper.

I've played around with it a little in my yard and have no troubles with soup cans and beer bottles at 15-20 yards but I know for a fact I can shoot the 5" version better.

I love carrying it, much more comfortable than the bigger version which wasn't all that bad, but still a big improvement. It's a 3.5 in barrel which seems about right, but I've heard some people have problems +P ammo not cycling. I don't think that will be an issue for me as I doubt I will carry it with +P
