How much would it have cost you to simply cancel the plan? I'd have angrily cancelled, told everyone at the company that I came into contact with about WHY I was cancelling, and spent some of that money on a better company and better phone...
| i would cancel the plan- if it was that easy... you see i have been using my "rogers" cel-phone number as a business line for the past 5 years. all my advertising, invoices, business cards, stickers etc. have this number printed and attached to them/it. plus all of my customers of the past 5 years have this number too... so for me to just drop this number it would cost me more and be stupid to lose the customer-base i've been building for the past 5 years! i'll just have to pass on "the cost of the new phone" to the next customer... i'm sorry (to the)"next customer" but hey thats just how business works! life sucks... but i'm not going back to eating "ketchup-sandwhichers", i've worked too hard to get to this point to turn back now!
| They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn! |

| | | Posted by logtec i'm not sure if canada has that rule in place yet.

I doubt the process is much different from the one we have in the US. You simply go to the new company and say you'd like to use your old number. You may want to do this before you actually cancel your Rogers plan -- it has been so long since I've switched companies that I've forgotten exactly which order it goes in. Tracy, can you explain how it worked, for you? the cost of the contract buy-out and then the cost of a new cel plan (on one of canada's crapier moble phone companies) would be about the same as just getting a new phone! plus the hassel of switching everything over... it just easier to get a new phone(and its set up that way!) |
I think you chose the arguably worse option ;) If the costs are about the same, why not choose a better company and spend the same amound of money right NOW, and then NOT get screwed over, later?? In the long run, I think switching would possibly have saved you a lot more money, especially with how horrible they sound (from both you AND web searches). rogers has the best service in ontario, me being in undergrounds and basements all the time a strong signal is important. i'm stuck in their web...

No, you're not. They just made you feel as if you were, which is pretty unethical, depending on how they did it. But you're never stuck and you should ALWAYS research your options before choosing to stay with a company that has continuously screwed you over. This may all be moot, at this point, however: With most cell phone companies in the US, we have 30 days after renewing a plan (or whatever it was that you did) to change our minds. We can cancel this renewal, give back the phone, revert back to what we had before (take your shitty POS phone back and then cancel the plan), and go from there. You quite possibly may have this option, but from what it sounds like... Rogers may not actually tell you this until you ask. Anyway, about Rogers being the best company in Ontario -- what is your source? There are apparently several there, and I've seen mixed reviews for the 4 main ones (Bell and Rogers are the ones I know off the top of my head) .... And I've seen the WORST reviews for Rogers, especially with their shady business tactics!! I don't understand ---- why do you guys let a stupid cell phone company push you around? Are they really that horrible and different from American cell phone companies? ...... Conclusion (sorry so long): I use Verizon Wireless here, and I absolutely love them. They give me discounts to help me out, sometimes (even when I am not entitled to one, as you were definitely entitled), they explain everything fully, they are lenient when I'm late on my bill, they have WONDERFUL customer service, they're GREAT underground and ...... They'd bend over backwards for me, if I needed it. I had a problem with a particular model of phone for a few months and went through several different ones, free of charge. Verizon held my hand and was there for me the WHOLE TIME... I never had to deal with it alone - even though they're a business, they're still on my side. They'd rather keep me as a customer than lose me. I hope you can find a company, some day, that has the same values...
