Just wondering if anyone has encountered anything paranormal while exploring?
I was exploring the Lyric theater with Lexi one time, and I was the first the enter, and sat behind a staircase while I waited for her to arrive. I was only there a few moments when I heard the sounds of heavy footsteps coming down the very staircase I was sitting under. Theres also the strong feeling of being watched while your there.
At the Tivoli Theater, which actually has a reputation for being haunted, was much more interesting. Besides hearing key jingling, and a piano playing, I actually saw the apparition of a very stern looking woman, in a old fashioned dress at the end of the dressing room hall in the basement.
When exploring a house in kitchener a while back, before we stepped inside, I poked my head through the broken window of the door and asked if any one was home. I was greeted with a loud crashing noise from inside.
Those are some of the more interesting stories...

Someone mentioned that you hit the Summit Mansion on the way back from the Rochester meet and that you had some weird shit happen there. Care to share?

I've always heard that the place is very haunted, especially considering its history. The scaffolding on the front of the building is still there because the construction workers got scared off and refused to come back. Yet no matter how many times I've been there, I've never seen/heard/felt anything.

I heard whispers twice yesterday while exploring the Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells Texas. Its supposedly haunted big time but I never really take stock in all the junk about the "haunted" sites on the web. Half the stories are deviants of the original and over the years has become more urban legend than truth.

BUT the story about the Baker was that the owner Mr. Baker (duh) had a mistress that had a suite on the 7th floor. She committed suicide for some reason or another and the entire 7th floor is supposedly haunted. This is where I heard the whispers.......no shit y'all. I was in there all alone no explorin buddies or anything. I really dont know what it was but it sounded like a woman's soft voice. It was very quiet yet it sounded like it was right next to me.

Wierd......cant say for sure if it was a ghost but it was freaky nonetheless.

Couple of pics from yesterday.

Here is where I heard whatever it is that I heard.

Up here is supposed to be haunted too.

Oh, that place is most definitely haunted. Upon closer analysis of the photo, check out what I found:

Thats right, there was some weird shit going down at the Summit Manson. I find it interesting however, that Axle and his crew encountered an old man with a shot gun just hours earlier and we gained entry with the smallest of effort. I didnt think that anything was really wrong with the house until we got to the basement. I had the worst of feelings down there, and by the time I reached the bottom of the stairs my flashlight unexpectedly went dead and I knew I had to leave, and I expressed that to Tim when I said I was leaving and ran up the stairs and out the window we came in from. When trying to exit the window I was frozen by this odd high pitched humming noise that seemed to be made by some disembodied voice.

This past weekend I went with a local group (Haunted Hamilton) at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Oho. We spent the night in the abandoned jail, looking for signs from the paranormal. I was slightly disappointed at the lack of activity but we did hear the sounds of the cell doors closing, there were balls of light and some very odd feelings in solitary confinement. Other people reported being touched, seeing shadowy figures and other things of that nature. It was a very interesting experience

My strangest experience (I may have posted this already) was exploring a house that's about a mile away from my place which has been abandoned at least as long as I've lived here (1994)

This house is odd in the sense that when the owner died, his family just left the place. Personal effects are everywhere, there are still sheets on the bed, food in the fridge, etc, etc... it's like he left yesterday- with some decay.

ANYHOW- my friend and I were checking this place out one night, and when I got to the top of the stairs, I thought that I had seen a man, but there was nothing. I didn't say anything, and about 5 minutes later, Greg walked into a room and said "Shit... I could have sworn I just saw a guy in here."

We decided to leave, it was getting a bit odd, and I had a crap flashlight.

A while later, my parents were setting up an antique show at the local elementary school. There was a photo on the wall of the founding members of the school (which was built in 1967), and one man in the photo looked really familiar.

The name on the photo? Clifford Broadworth... who was the owner of that house.

There are a few exploring places in the Twin Cities that I've been in that are haunted.

1. Ripleys Maternity Hospital (now reused) - built in the 1800's as a hospital for unwed mothers to bear children. It was later expanded into a larger multistory facility and served as hospital and in the 90's as a nursing home and then abandoned in the 90's. The entry point was very crafty as the building was VERY well sealed we used to have to climb into a large smokestack and crawl up the furnace vents into a sub-basement and climb down a tall incinerator onto the floor below. Other explorers had reported hearing voices, unexplained noises, doors opening and closing by themselves, cold spots, and other paranormal instances. The interior was being stripped for reuse in some areas which seems to spark up paranormal events in manty recorded cases.
On several of the trips into the building I made (including several with UER members who will confirm the stories) there were times I heard voices when there were no others in the building, had doors open or close after being secured within a matter of minutes and general unusual happenings. Nothing that would really freak a person out but more of a thing that made you go hmm.

***exerpt from my original trip log from 2004***

The main room held a fireplace that must have at one time looked much different. Seventies looking tiles covered it and made it look tacky and cheap. There were other small rooms that were probably used for administration and a bathroom that held a scare all its own. As we were looking around Gatsby closed the door to the bathroom only to come back a short time later to see that the door had come open again. He closed it again to get by and turned around a minute later to see it opening by itself! No big deal he thought it’s probably a little off so it opens by itself. He then closed it and waited for it to open again. It didn’t, so he pushed it a little bit and it only moved a short distance. He did this several times to the same effect, it only moved a little ways before stopping again proving that it wasn’t off center. He closed the door again and walked away, not saying anything to us since we were in another room. We soon walked past that same door again and on our way upstairs to the second floor I closed it so that it was wedged shut. When we finally made it back downstairs it was standing wide open again. We wondered if this was the door that flew open on Max Action and Foxilla when they visited in the winter of 2001/2002.

2. Train Roundhouse (partial use in active train yard - mostly abandoned superfund site) - A half circle roundhouse with the remains of a central pivot in the center. Very few have explored this location as far as I know and myself and a friend were the first to gain entrance. On our initial explore in the early morning hours we had to use a lot of wits to get from one area to another as some areas were former storage areas for hazardous waste. The whole thing was originally built as a steam locomotive house and later partially upgraded by an addition to work on modern engines. In all a very cool industrial location even if there were giant demon spiders but thats another story. While checking the place out we came to the end of the half circle which had a couple of vehicles stored in it and we suddenly heard someone on the outside approach a door and heard the jingle of keys! Thinking we were trapped and there wasn't a lot of places to hide in that area we hit the dirt behind a pile of sand away from the vehicles and other equipment hoping we would be hidden from view. There were very large windows allowing in a lot of light but the windows were covered with corrugated semi-transparent plastic where you could only make out shapes near the plastic. We never saw anyone go by the windows and it got VERY silent to where we couldnt hear anything for several minutes. I got up after waiting a bit and snuck up to the only small glass window right by the door we heard the noise from and took a peek out and there was nothing outside. The grass that had grown up by the door was not trampled or anything. Thinking it was time to go in case it was a worker in the yard we started heading back the way we came through the roundhouse since the end we entered on was closest to the exit from the yard. Since the yard was a active one and a large area of open well lit ground had to be crossed to get in and out it was a tricky location. Just as we were moving from the section we were in to the next which held a couple of old fuel and oil cars we heard a series of knocks and noises like whistling just a matter of feet in front of us! There was no light in this section and it was almost pitch black as we were using the red LEDs on our headlamps which we turned off as soon as we heard the noises. After waiting a bit I turned on the spot on my headlamp and checked it out and again there was nothing in the next room except the train cars and our footprints in the dust. As soon as we approached the next section the same thing happened again, and again with each section we approached on our way out. It kept just ahead of us the whole time! After this happened a few times we were about as tight wound as you can be and had absolutely no evidence of anyone in there but us. Before going all the way back the way we came I found one of the large wooden doors that used to open to allow engines in and out had a chain with enough slack on it securing them to allow us to get out. On getting back outside we saw workers hooking up cars on the far side of the yard but no activity near us. We had to sneak past the workers on our way out but could never come up with a good reason for those noises other than a haunting.

GK, that historic photo of Ripley's has always creeped me out for some reason. Never got a chance to explore that place though. I have many stories. I will post them later though. Not really feeling the best this morning.... Long night.

I've seen way more creepy historical shots of that place than a group of nurses standing outside. Check out the Historical Society image library in St Paul if you want to check them out. I think they may even have some images in the online collection if I remember right but its been awhile since I dug up anything on that so may be remembering wrong.

I'd like to hear what stories you have TC.

So this is the trip my friend, my fiancé, and I made. It was to an abandoned trainyard. So decided to go through them and see what all we could see.

http://www.uer.ca/...d=3&threadid=82528

Now while we were going through the trains, they were in several states of disrepair. Some were gutted others still had their chairs in them, a couple even had water coolers with the paper cups still in place. We ended up in one of the nicer cars. It looked very new, and everything in it was nicely organized. The were no chairs or anything else that seemed like it was normally in there. While we in there this happened:

http://www.flickr....84@N03/4849738484/

We are not sure what it was. We ended up going through the rest of the train to make sure there was no one in there. It was just us. Our theories ranged from something falling, to metal popping, to something hitting the train, to perhaps the paranormal. When we exited the train we heard a train coming, it sounded like it was right on top of us, yet we never saw it. Shortly after the train "passed" we heard the sound we heard inside the train twice again while outside of it. My fiancé and friend said they heard the sound a second time while in the train yet I never heard it.

Since it was sunny out, it could have been the roof of the train car expanding as it heated up.

A good guess, it kind of sounds like a metal door slamming, or someone kicking or hitting something.

I'm in a 50's stucco house with wood doors. Sometimes at night there's a quite loud sound like a wood cupboard door being slammed. The loudness varies, likely the front door contracting as the house cools down. It's quite a 'crack' though, so I like the idea it's something paranormal, but probably isn't.

The previous owner left 'signs of weirdness'. Hidden keys, little booze bottles above the ceiling tiles, his wallet with old id in it, a magic? lol, oil lamp, etc.

yeah 98% my thoughts. although at the time i thought somebody might have been hiding in the 2nd half of the car.
but the noise came from the roof (note that i turned the camera upward toward the sound) so i would have to say it was the hot metal. made me jump though, lolol...

I've never told anyone this before...

One time when I was younger I was exploring a mansion located on a tree-filled hill. I was in the kitchen looking at some paperwork I found.
Suddenly across the side of my neck I felt a touch. It was like someone brushed my hair across my neck and over my shoulder. It was very real and gave me goosebumps. I turned around instinctively to elbow my friend who I thought had touched me, but alas I realized no one was there...

My hair was tied up in a bun, so I know it was not that and nothing else was near to my neck.
It totally freaked me out and I asked to leave soon after.

The house is demolished now and a new house has been built in it's place.

Rumor has it a family died there. First, the young son drowned in the pool after the mother stepped away mistakenly. She was so devastated she apparently killed herself. The husband followed his Beloved into the dark.
I found part of the story on Micro-fiche at the library, but years of drugs and decay have killed my memory...

I'm typing this with my middle fingers.

I was exploring a place with my (now ex) gf and heard her calling my name urgently, I thought it was the cops and when I went to her position I saw her taking photos very calmly. I went back to what I was exploring and later as we were driving away she asked me what I was doing. I told her I was just taking some shots, then she asked my why I was dragging around heavy chunks of steel. I told her I hadn't done that at all, and told her her about what I had heard.
Our conclusion was that the place was haunted, since we both heard things that we hadn't actually done.
Also we both felt a weird presence in the building.

This was one of my first ventures into UEing (all this was taken from a post almost 5 years ago) right now the place is demo'ed very sad indeed.

http://www.uer.ca/...page=11&pp#post207

The Scariest experience I had was in December me, Vividserenity, and Me'rulla decided to go to Broad Acres on the Outskirts of Utica. We got there at like i think maybe 4:30 pm and it was already dark. So we go across the street and start looking around Jensen hall and we only have 2 flashlights for the 3 of us, so periodically we would switch off one of the flashlights to one another. So we went through the basement with no problems and then we headed towards the main hall. It was very very cold in there, but this is because it's middle of winter and all the windows are broken out. So we head down the hall exploring each room. I'm in one of the rooms, Viv is in the hallway outside of the room, and merulla is in the main hallway. So i'm talking then i hear "SHHH" from Viv. I turn around and shes standing there and merulla is outside of the hall with listening. And I hear this tapping on the wall, so i walk out and merulla snaps a picture down the hall. So we're standing there then all of a sudden I feel as though someone is standing within inches from my face and they don't want me here, and I say to them "I feel very............uncomfortable" and before i got to say uncomfortable the feeling went away, and when that feeling went away A giant piece of paintchip fell off the wall almost like someone had knocked it off in a rush. From that point on i was freaked out for the rest of the night.

this is the picture merulla took
