Woke up this morning and went to swallow my own spit, only to find that doing so hurt immensely. I had to lay in bed and drool all over the place, holding cold water in my mouth to get the swelling down. Couldn't eat till around noon, and even now I'm just barely able to talk and drink. Held my tongue out with a piece of napkin and grabbed my headlamp, and sure enough, those buggers were swollen right out, almost up against my uvula. Normally, I can't even see them. No fever, no cold. Just pain, which leads me to believe they aren't infected.

I know this is a warning sign that my body's about to get ravaged by sickness, but god damn! Why now? I've got a million and one things to do and I have a sweet exploring trip planned tomorrow.

I hate my compromised immune system.

(gripe about your sicknesses here.)

You aren't really sick, since you're a robot, not a human being. Having rubber skin that looks vaguely like human skin is all well and good, but it doesn't mean you're susceptible to the frailties of organic creatures. It's all in your head.

i had to get my tonsils out only about 3 years ago. i was 24. they "went bad." and basically every other month that exact thing would happen to me followed by a cold with wicked fevers. i kept getting tested for mono and put on antibiotics. mono test would come back negative but i would be cured by then bc the infection would be wiped out. this carried on for a year. my dr kept saying not to worry about my tonsils. then the 4th of july weekend it was 90 degrees outside and i was stuck all weekend with a fever and a horrible sore throat, and my dr wouldnt help me bc he was closed for the holiday. so i sat there for about 3 days undiagnosed. and that was it.

frustrated, i established myself with a new dr. at this point i was well. i said can you look at these? he said "WHOAAAAAA and how long have THOSE been like that?" and sent me to an ear nose and throat guy immediately.

getting them out sucked but in the long run it was the best thing i ever did. i still catch colds, but i dont get those horrible swollen golf balls in the back of my throat. and i can kick them on my own sans antibiotics. i dont end up with bronchitis anymore like i used to after a cold, etc etc etc. basically i had been carrying a low grade infection in my tonsils all the time. so when i crossed paths with something my immune system was already comprimised. i even got a blood test at some point while i still had the stupid things and i forget what was off, but my dr said something in my blood was way off, that clues that my body is trying to endlessly fight something off.

the surgeon said my left tonsils just shriveled up when he tried to take it out and white pus just came out of it. lovely.

Had mine excised when I was 4. I got to eat a lot of ice cream, and my Dad's boss visited me in the hospital and gave me a shitty GI-Joe knock off action figure.

Atomx just got his out a year or two ago, and he couldn't have any ice cream. Gosh, the times have changed for the worse!!!!

He couldn't eat anything with milk product in it, or that was coloured red, brown or purple. *laughs*

My daughter woke up with the same thing last week. Hurt like hell, very swollen and red. Took her to the doc thinking maybe early strep because there was no white yuck. Strep test was negative. Turns out that there is a virus going around. He had her alternate Tylenol and Motrin and drink plenty of what ever she could get down. She emptied every box of tea in the house and was back to normal in about 2 days.

By the end of Saturday I was horribly ill and the kid that I babysit decided she needed help for everything. Wouldn't stay asleep, was awake on and off until around 12:30 AM when her parents came home. (Thank God it was an early night!)
Didn't sleep a wink because I was dripping snot all over myself and the sinus pressure hurt. Went out exploring in the freezing cold on Sunday, sickness came back twice as hard. I slept in today through my Fitness class, it seems like I'm getting better, but now my chest is super congested and it's a bit of a chore to breathe.

Goddamnit!

Lexi, you're a curse. As of Wednesday, I have been diagnosed with tonsillitis. Boo. I hope I don't have to go through the same thing as tullo. I'm starting school next week, damnit.

As you know, I'm on the mend. Was coughing up blood yesterday, but I was able to make it through my full cardio regimen tonight without dying.

Get better! Take your antibiotics as prescribed and drink honey lemon tea.

I'm getting sick.

It's in the tonsil area.

I BLAME YOU ALL!

Admittedly, I did lick my monitor by my own volition, though.
