medical bills

I'm pissed about medical bills. Every year for the last four years something chronic or acute has afflicted my family and cost us a small fortune to fix. we have insurance, but in Cali, they chased off all of the good HMO's with lawsuits and bad press. HONESTLY, WHAT WAS SO BAD ABOUT GETTING A REFERALL!?!?!Back when I had Lifeguard HMO I coulda have sawed off my arm and the total bill woul have been under 100 bucks. Now with this crappy PPO that everybody at my work had forced upon us, A small procedure or lab test costs hundreds of dollars. When my wife and I had our first son, the total hospital bill that wasn't covered was 290.00 and that was it. With our second son, her work changed insurance halfway through the pregnancy. Guess how much the next one cost? out of pocket was 18,000! I went through most of my inheritance and still had to refi to pay off. I guess I just had to vent because the aforementioned refi was actually an adjustable rate second mortgage, and I'm glad I'm not under it anymore. Peace!

Is that state run heath care good or bad. In Cali, the care is kinda ehh, but you pay out the rear for it.On top of that, if you are an undocumented immigrant, you get it free. It makes a lot of people mad, real mad.

For sure it does!!! I was sitting in the emergency room bleeding on myself from a cut hand. Now mind you, nothing life threatening but I had to wait in line behind those type of people getting free visits for the sniffles, I waited 8 hours. The real kicker was when I asked to pay the co-pay at the visit they said they have no way of taking money, they will bill me. Shit! I wanted to pay then when I had the money and not get a bill. They would not take cash, check or credit card. How messed up is that?

I'm the same way, if they send me a bill for the co-pay, it'll take me three months to pay them back. I'm such a slacker!

I went beyond slacker with that one. I sent a note back saying that I wanted to pay at the time but they had no way to take my money now I have to way to pay. I have yet to get another bill. I am sure that it is coming though.

It's true, they always squeeze the ones they know will pay. The next time I go to the ER, I'm going to pretend to be an irish immigrant with no documention!

I sat in the ER for 8 hours with a finger that was cut off...

There is a lot of corruption in our health care system. CNN ran a article saying a lot of general doctors want to quit because of all the red tape...

To be honest, I only go to ER if im missing a part....I either glue it myself or stitch it myself. A $500-$600 community college paramedic course is a lot cheaper then a ER hahaha

i have serious things wrong with me and i flatly refuse to see a doctor. I am not going into debt up to my fucking eyes for those fucking bastards. I have insurance, but you have the co-pay and then they don't cover this, or don't cover that... the healthcare system is so fucked up in America it's ridiculous!

I just love how they always try to get you to pay medical bills with your credit card. Like it's some kind of favor!Hmmm, let me see, I can be late on my payment and do so at 0% interest, or I can pay it on time and it'll cost 18%or more interest!! In my experience, if it is small and you neglect them long enough, they give up beause it's not worth it to them. My bills are so messed up that the bill collectors are calling my kids( they're 4 and 8 years old) for money! You know it's bad when you can wreck your children's credit!

i owed my dentist $20 from a copay last fall (I had forgotten my wallet at home) and then just kept forgetting to send them a check... they sicked a fucking asshole bill collector on me. The asshole kept calling and finally I got pissed (this was after I paid the bill to the dentist) and told him, "Look fucko, I know where you are in Burlington. It's a short drive for me. Don't make me come over there and settle this in person. In the parking lot."

no more calls after that.

If you had READ the post, Sara my sweet, you'll see the line that clearly states the calls continued to come in AFTER I HAD PAID THE OWED MONIES TO SAID DENTIST.

I've been learning to read on the sly because my husband won't allow it, I'm still not up to par yet.

Sorry, Samurai.

Ha! My husband perfected his technique long before White Rabbit. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go bake some pies. Otherwise, it's quite likely I'll "fall down the stairs" again.
