Does anyone here have experience with transporting a vehicle across country?
I've committed to staying in Western Canada where I am right now for a full Year and want my truck out here. It's leased so Im not prepared to eat the Km's to drive it.

I've talked to a few companies and most want just under 2grand to direct drive it in a trailer which takes 2 or 3 days, or 1500 to ship on the rails, which takes up to two weeks.

Any other ideas or sources that you guys might have? Anyone here bored and in possession of a car hauler sometime this month?

thx

Hansen's rail service through CP Rail... they used to handle all the vehicle shipping for the Canadian Rally Championship.

I think your best bet is using rail. For the price to pay, they keep the cars in whats called an autorack which is protected from the elements.

My father had has bad luck with the road-based services. When my family moved, we used a carrier that well the big rig died, so they ended up using OUR car to go get parts and in process, left bags of left overs of Mexican food in OUR car. My father raised hell about it and magically, we didn't need to pay them for the service

Probably rail is the best, but there are some companies out there that use semis that might work out, I've read a few good reviews. (I had this silly idea about Sam and me moving to New Mexico if they finally do break down and close IP Ti. He could drive a truck for a natural gas company without a CDL or a HAZMAT cert because they're so strapped for employees that aren't crackheads who can pass the drug screen and want to drive for them, so I've been looking.) If I were you, I'd be getting a GPS enabled Lowjack installed, unless you're planning on riding along with the vehicle.

Myself, I'd be getting the device installed no matter which service you use. Also many of these services have their own tracking systems, but for peace of mind...get the Lowjack.

Thanks for the tips. I had actually shunned rail completely as the modus transportus.... thinking one guy in a truck with a trailer would have a better handle on personally transporting my goods cross Country.
Perhaps i'll think back to rail and suck up the extra few weeks it will take

thanks
