I went to the montreal car show tonight. I hate to say this but its pretty sad to see how chrysler has fallen. GM and Ford had very forward looking and optimistic setups. Chrysler had a single stand up chrysler logo and about 20 cars with basic trade show curtains around thier area. No flash, no pizzaz not even a potted plant

i was humming the kenny rogers song "the pride is back" while looking at the crapola (challenger excluded) that chrysler had parked there. GM and ford, while having toned down the grandeur of thier displays still had a made an effort. GM actually impressed me, they were even allowing test drives around the convention center in thier hybrids. and well that pontiac G8 just had my redneck side drooling "there aint no replacement for displacement"

for those who didnt get the kenny rogers reference!

that third commercial they actually jump a K car!!

as far as lee goes, Lee Iacocca rocks!anyone who puts out a slogan "if you can find a better car BUY IT" has the balls to make things work. He didnt ask for a government bailout, he requested loan guarantees, rebuilt the company to the point in the late 80s they were sucessful enough to buyout AM Generals civilian vehicle line at AMC... but i think he is smart enough to stay away from chrysler!

Yeah, Chrysler's line up is pathetic... I had a Caliber for a rental car when I was at the X-Games. What a fucking disgrace. Hands down, worst car I have ever driven in my life. And I've owned a Fiat and a Renault.

its ridiculous, we may be recovering from the high gas prices of last year but the public once bitten twice shy. GM and Ford are well positioned with some very economical cars in the lineup. Where are chryslers. When chrysler was aligned with mitsubishi they had some econo boxes like the colt that would be selling like hotcakes now. But no Big Hemis and crazy cars like the viper.

The G8 is more than a reasonable displacement V8 stuffed in a RWD chassis. It is a refined chassis and, from everything I have read, on par with BMW in the grins-per-mile category. Also, with displacement on demand, it's reasonable economical for a rwd sedan.

there's nothing redneck about a G8.
but there's nothing like a big fat rwd powerslide, though.

the sales guy was talking about how the G8 is proof how unions are killing GM. If they can afford to import that boat from australia and sell it at a decent price!!

You know, I'm of the beleif among Mopar guys that DalmlerBenz fucked up the identity of Chrysler. Your going to see them for a while laying low and sticking to their staple models for a bit before having a strong presence at trade shows again. I do have to say though that the new Chrysler has made an interesting alliance with Fiat last week.

And Mr. Former Expos Mascot, I've heard that statement too about the G8; Apparently the price of one G8 to be sent to North America including tariffs, fees, and transportation charges as to manufacture it at Oshawa Car Assembly roughly! Early on, I guess the head of the Pontiac division tried to get permission from the head of Holden to allow the North American version of the G8 to even be made at Oshawa and of course, he said "HELL NO".
