| | | I finally managed to get my grubby paws on this today. I'm a fan of Bruce Campbell, I have been since I saw Evil Dead way back when...this was a movie he made with Sam Raimi's brother, Ted, as a joke, according to the story. It was only released in 4 theaters nationwide according to the papers I saw, I was hoping that last year it would make it this way. Guess there's just not enough people that wanted it up here. Honestly, it wasn't that good, but if you've got a couple hours to kill, it's worth a watch. This was supposed to be the next Army of Darkness movie, I have no clue why they didn't make it, it probably would have been better received if it were. Well, no doubt about it, it would have been. If it had gone according to the leaked script I saw, where the townspeople actually thought he was Ash...it would have been awesome, but somebody somewhere thought the way they did it would be better...well, it certainly wasn't. Be forewarned though, if you didn't at least see Army of Darkness...you won't get a lot of the jokes. Made it a double feature with Bubba Ho-Tep, which was much much better. Made me wonder why I avoided it in the first place. Elvis (Bruce Campbell) and a fella who thinks he's JFK (Ossie Davis) are in an old folks home in Texas. The place is besieged by a soul sucking mummy, hilarity ensues. It's worth the watch. Definitely worth the watch. Shael

| | | Posted by metawaffle I love Bubba Ho-Tep - the whole side theme about the indignity of growing old was not what I expected, and it added a lot to the movie. Anyway, how can you not like something with Bruce Campbell in it? Didn't he do a stint in Xena: Warrior Princess for a while?
| I believe so...and the whole side theme was what made the movie. I expected something a lot more stupid, but that wasn't what I got. The whole how I got here thing was what I really didn't expect and one of my favorite parts. I'd read the short story years ago, I can't remember where, I'm guessing it was in one of the literature classes I took in college. I'll have to go look through my old schoolbooks. Also...there's rumored to be a sequel coming, Bubba Nosferatu: The Curse of the She Vampires or something of that nature. Ron Perlman's gonna take over Bruce Campbell's role, which I don't think will work, but it might surprise me, Paul Giamatti is also supposed to be in it. Bruce Campbell decided not to do it because they didn't get the original story writer, Joe Lansdale and he didn't think it would work out quite so well. http://www.bubbanosferatu.com/ Shael
