Well, 'new'.

1986 Toyota 4Runner, 22r 4-cylinder, 5-speed manual, 4x4, 218K miles, $1,500. Quite the upgrade from the Tercel

I know, right? I always theorized that maybe the roof came off, just because you could see the back bit was made of fiberglass/different paint shades etc, but I didn't actually know they did until I went to look at it.

Now I can't wait until April or so

Maybe that will help you keep this one shiny side up?

Sounds like it was a pretty good deal... definitely bring on the summer!

Lets see some interior shots.

It's nothing special inside, it needed a vacuuming when I got it and since then I've only contributed to the messiness - I'm trying to chase down wires to find out why the switch for the power rear window isn't getting any power, so various trim pieces and etc are taken off right now. Plus, I work maintenance for a cabin rental business, which requires me to carry around a lot of tools and stuff, so that explains all the random junk in the back.

That being said;

But oh how I love that roll bar.

edit: I actually didn't even notice the 2 door handles on the passenger door, after I read your post I had to go out and look for myself

4Runner... back when it was an actual honest 4wd go-anywhere beast... not the uber-pimped out suburban shopping mall parking lot cruiser it has become.

Don't remove the top! It'll leak!

If you do, make sure you replace all the seals, those original 4Runners are known for that.

Looks like a good deal, not too rotted...we don't have any of those here anymore. Only Yota body style I really liked!

haha yeah, a guy I work with was talking with me about it and said "Yeah, my wife has a 2007 4Runner..." then sort of trailed off while looking it over, and said "Somewhere along the way, something went terribly wrong."

And thanks for that warning Matt, I get the feeling you just saved me a lot of trouble.

I wouldn't let my info be the end all, it's your truck and I was mostly being reactionary...haha. I'd look into it online, but I've always heard those tops caused leaks after you took them off and then reinstalled, a few people told me theirs did in person. Still a cool setup...I'd probably look into taking mine off if I had one.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to take it off sometime. I don't see the point in having a vehicle that can do that and never doing it. But I will look into it.

I don't know if you figured it out yet or not, but the issue with your rear window power is an easy fix. One of the bolt hole holes on the drivers side of the removable top has a switch in it. I don't recall which one exactly, but I think it's about halfway back. It's a safety switch, so the window is not operational with the top off. A lot of times a longer bolt is used in that hole to make sure the switch is actuated. I hope this helps.
