What do you carry and why?
(Why that brand or type, or what has it gotten you through?)

I was really wondering why some people have become loyal to a single brand, (like me to Streamlight) or why the favor a particular type of light.

see the lighting biography thread for all of my lights, but:

I just picked up 2 Garrity 1 Watt Luxeon LED spotlights (pistol grip) and they are really nice and bright with great focus and great throw, especially great throw for an LED, and use only 4x AA batteries!

My JetBeam Jet III PRO IBS is my number one. It runs on one 18650 LiIon battery, which means it outstrips my CR123 lights in runtime, while still keeping the same brightness.

The reason I got into the JetBeams, though, is the programmable interface - it has three modes, each of which can be set to any brightness level, adjustable-frequency strobe, blah blah blah

I have the thinner Jet III PRO ST as well, but this light seems to fit my hand better.

Along with a host of Mag Lites and such, my primary light is a Surefire Z2 Combatlight. Apparently, I can hold this flashlight and a gun at the same time. Wheeee!

Hmm, I waiting for my 230 lumen surefire to show up, but I have some tripod Stanley LEDs that are ok, a 3 d mag lite, and this which has a really nice heft to it. Its a Excalibur Superbeam, has 3 led and 5 led settings and hasn't corroded like the other $3 7 led lights I have taken into drains. Its bright and takes 2 CR123 Li's.

I picked it up at the Source when I was getting batteries last boxing day and it was worth the $14 I put down.

From another forum, this comment was the funniest thing I've read all week.

The mini mag light is full of suck for night ops.

And one of the truest, I know, I've been there.

Are the mini-mag lite ones those critters about the size of a AA battery?

i have the surefire G2 LED. when comparing the different phoenix and surefire lights, 80 lumens with 12 hours of run time seemed like the best bang for the buck at the time.

now waffle's light gives me a bit of a hard-on. i'm pretty sure that's gonna be my next flashlight purchase. the surefire website sells the 1.5 lithium batteries for cheap, and i've had the light for 2 years and have only changed the batteries twice, but being able to double and almost triple my brightness with a rechargeable battery seems like a good idea.

Actually, if you're not going through batteries too quickly, it might be worth sticking with non-rechargeables, since the rechargeables do lose their charge over time, which might be a pain if you wouldn't otherwise be recharging the batteries regularly.

However, all is not lost! I'd check out the JetBeam Jet III M, where the M impressively stands for 'military'. It has two modes, one of which is user-settable, but most importantly, it'll run on one rechargeable 18650 battery, or two non-rechargeable CR123A batteries.

Here's the manufacturer's page: http://www.jetbeam...nks/pro/jet3m.aspx

I see that they claim it'll put out 225 lumens for 3 hours on one 18650, which seems like wishful thinking to me - I'd expect it to last about half that long, like every other light that uses that same LED You'd probably want to halve the estimated run times on the other batteries, too. Of course, if you use it at a dimmer setting, it'll last much longer.

Sadly, I've never used the Jet III M, as its release late last year coincided with the crash of the Australian dollar, so picking one up just for fun was hard to justify, after I'd just bought two other JetBeams Looks good, though.

I bought Eli this flashlight today. I was too full of Persian food to fully appreciate its glory, but he seemed quite pleased with it.

I don't know that the JetBeams are really all that good as a penis extension, sadly - they're about the same size as the SureFire, and putting out three times the light isn't as impressive in practice as it sounds.

I suppose that begs the question - what do you get if you really want a penis extension light?...

Aren't you just perpetuating the stereotype that black penis extension lights are bigger?
