I found this movie through an...unnamed source this evening.

No real big names, but it's the story of Chess Records in Chicago from the 40's all the way to present day.

A real surprising story, basically the roots of rock and roll from the black perspective, comprising the rise and fall of Muddy Waters, Etta James, Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry and others. Many of the names you probably won't recognize but once you hear the music, you'll never forget them.

It's worth a watch if you like this sort of stuff. I have a weakness for history, especially this kind of history. The studio still stands and it's on my list of places to go before I die. I got to cross a couple of them off last year with Sun Studio and Graceland, hopefully I get to cross that off eventually too, along with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and Max Yazgur's farm, at least to go see the Woodstock monument. The whole allure of it to me is the ability to walk the path that others have, that's what films like this do and probably why I find them so interesting.

why didn't you say something last time we were down in Kingston? It's nearby!

Well, we were on a schedule Sam. Last time we were down there, it was for that hockey game last February.
