Somewhat of a personal question...

How come when girls have feelings for someone, and they're honest about it, they are bashed for it?

All the time guys say to girls, "You know, I do love you... but I'm not IN love with you... we should break up." He was honest, right? Honesty, at least, should be respected, or at least I thought.

Why when a girl is honest, which is the advice she was given by so many people, she gets called a cunt and a whore? Is it better to LIE to the guy and lead him on? And just because her feelings changed (And for good reason) doesn't mean she was leading him on the entire time they were together.

Some guys are crazy. Some guys make up things in their mind that they think exist, even though the girl will tell them the entire time how she really feels about things. Some guys just can't accept the truth.

edit: I had to modify this because I failed to read previous threads and the former was inappropriate. Sorry.

Well it's a cruel double-standard if it's true. But, I will tell you this, men want to have sex all the time, it's all we care about, if a woman says "I'm not liking you so much" it means no more sex most likely or no more chance of maybe having sex. We get butthurt.

I'm confused, what was covered already?

My answer is that honesty is still the best policy. Besides, if someone is going to resort to such childish measures, like name calling, then you know that your intuition about this guy was right. That leaving him was the wise thing to do. In the end, they guy was stupid and doesn't even get to have break up sex.

On a side note, how can you be intimate with someone you don't love?

This statement came from a guy? Wow, another man who actually shares my view on these things.

Happie, just be honest. If the guy can't take honesty, then he's probably an a-hole who wasn't worth your time to begin with. I can say from a personal perspective that if my significant others can't be honest with me, then there's no point to the relationship.

This is also coming from a guy who is working out a polyamourous relationship.

The problem that most people have is black and white thinking around the subject. My life partner and my soul mate are two different people.

It's definitely not black and white, although I'm only starting to figure that out over the past few months - DEFINITELY not enough time to reflect on it properly. I hope it works out for you...I can definitely see how it can become a big hairy fuckup. One of my friends is having to hide almost everything she does from her roommate, 'Oh, I'm going to meet a high school friend,' 'We're just studying.' And she sucks at lying, so this won't end well, but it'll be soon.

Well in keeping to the topic at hand. Honesty is the best policy. The more you lie or keep secrets, the bigger of a hole you dig for yourself.

In my talks with my life partner, an insignificant secret that she had, came to the surface. Now my trust is a bit bruised. Not because of what the secret was, but the fact that it was a secret. To me the biggest fuck up I can do is not being honest. If the relationship is not strong enough to talk, then it is doomed from the start.

Honesty is the best thing... for 2 years my ex kept a really big secret from me. I was devastated when he finally told me... It made ME feel stupid for not figuring it out... so many things I thought were ME... were actually HIM being neurotic, insecure and just fucked up. I can't help but think how much happier we would have been and how many fights could have been avoided if he told me the truth from the day i met him...

lying isnt worth it...
