So I walked into the gun store today after work just to look amd tool around for a little bit, ended up walking out with a Taurus Pro 24/7 .45ACP!

Has anybody personally heard anything about the 24/7 Pro series? The reviews online are great and I figured it was a steal for 400 bucks.

They are great guns.
It will serve you well.
Taurus gets a bad rap from Glock owners just like Hyundai gets a bad rap from Honda owners.

FWIW, my Taurus PT1911 outshot this gun:

In a 1000 round lead round nose shoot-out to failure match we did @ work.
You shoot LRN ammo until one or the other pistol fails. . . .
The $1300 Kimber went to 411 rounds and failed to come to full battery.
My used PT1911 ($375!) went 723 rounds before doing the same thing.

No shit! I'd almost give my left nut for a Kimber 1911. I never would have thought in a million years a Taurus would outlast a Kimber.

And fail testing at work! Damn, whatever you do my friend, you've got a badass job.

Kimbers are like Harleys.
MOST owners buy them because of the name. Their marketing is awesome.
How many times have you heard:
Q: "I want a 45, what should I get?"
A: "A Kimber, they are the best."
They're nice guns - but much of the price is NAME. I prefer Springfield Armory built 1911s. The FBI's SRT actually carries Springfield Armory 1911s. You can buy the same thing it's called a "Close Range Group" pistol and has CRG in the SN. They recommend 3000 rounds of shooting before the weapon is broken in.

I work for DoD.
