I have a 2001 Golf 4 door. Its pathetically slow. A pest extermination truck out accelerates me. I want to get rid of the 2.0 and get a 1.8t. Id like to keep it auto using the 2.0 auto trans if it bolts to the 1.8t. I dont feel like searching around VW Vortex because i hate that site, but if someone could find the answers im looking for, that would help me tons.

Should bolt right up... they sold auto new beetles with the 1.8T.

I hear you on the vortex... not a huge fan of that site myself, and I love my euro trash.

Nope, there was a later 2.0T (different engine) but the stock 2.0 is a boat anchor. A fucking reliable boat anchor but definitely slow.

2.0 is a tank of an engine, can literally not be killed. anyways a 1.8T should drop right in, no problem. But if you buy the super charger kit and put an exhaust and header the car will be pretty quick, the automatic transmission is whats killing you.

Do you mean the supercharger from NoSpeed (Neuspeed)? Low PSI turbo i so much better than a s/c on a 4 cylinder engine.

sYnOnYx has spoken. Put the brakes on that project! He doesn't think it's worth it!

It's people like you that influenced me to build the fastest Toyota Tercel in Canada (allegedly). "Why would you do that? It's a Tercel?!"

EXACTLY.

People like me ? You dont even know me or my history w/cars.

I have built about 3 "Fast" Cars over the last few years. Plus Still working on a buddies evo that just topped 350hp w/ bolt ons.

Just sold a DSM of mine with close to 400hp. A few months back.

Dave has a 300ZX w/ a TT motor sitting in his garage. Why build a golf when you can build the Z ? If your going to do a project go big or go home.

The automatic in that car is the killer. Ive driven a stick one and an auto golf. BIG difference.

ANYTHING can have potential. Even your tercel. But, your going to spend way more damn money trying to be unique, than building something thats a proven platform that people know what works and what doesnt.

If dave feels like the $$ to make it what he wants to be is worth it , then fuck it do it. Its your car do what you want with it.

If he stated what he was hoping to get out of the car then just "more power" it would be easier to state a better answer.

I was the official race car builder for Mitsubishi Canada for 2 1/2 years... so I know my DSM stuff.

Anyhow, sorry, I had no idea you were familiar with the car.
