I have been into photography and taking pictures for many years, but mostly i have shot on a basic 35mm camera or a digital point'n'shoot camera. About a year ago i went out and bought my first DSLR- a Nikon D80, i have taken basic and an advanced photography course at Henery's both related to the Nikon d80.
I have also bought and read a few books, the history of photography, 2 books geared to the Nikon d80, one on composition, one on digital cameras and how they work and one on lighting.
2 things i always do while taking pictures:
-i always shoot in "manual" mode, it usually takes me 3-4 shots before i get what i am looking for but doing this over the last year i have learned a lot about shutter-speed and the apertures.
(besides whats the point in spending all that money on a decent DSLR if you are just going to use the "auto" or "pre-set" modes?
-i never compose and shot a picture thinking that if i don't like it i can make adjustments and fix the image on the computer later.
Here is a few pic's, experimenting with depth of field, light, angles and long exposures any advice would be nice.
