That cop is an idiot! And that's stating it mildly. If a '20 year veteran' handles 911 calls that poorly, I hate to see how their rookies handle them.

He should have known from working as a cop that people do tend to react strongly under extreme stress. So she's swearing. Whoopee doo! He could have handled this much more professionally and not hung up like that.

Even if the girl was a bitch, he could have kept the higher ground.

granted, but consider that the guy on the end of the 911 call is supposed to be calm and cool NO MATTER WHAT. His job is to slow a situation down, get as much info as he can, and dispatch help (whatever the situation calls for) with efficiency and accuracy.

Wow! That cop is an asshole. When I was a 911 dispatcher I would have been fired for that, not to mentioned sued. The job requires that you stay calm and not react to how you are spoken to, just get the important info.

I was written up for not sending an officer to the right location. The call came in on a prepaid cell number that does not show a number, just 000-000-0000. I could not trace it since she hung up. All she said was send the fucking cops to 80 Main st. There are 3 80 Main streets and a few 80 East and West Main streets in the county. I picked the address based on the fact she sounded like a black female and that location had the highest concentration of black residents. That is all I had to go on. I put in the notes of the call and informed the dispatcher that if that was not right we would have to continue to send officers to all the 80 Main st addresses till we find her. I was written up for not researching all the recent calls to all 80 Main st addresses. The reason I did not do that right away was because the next call came in just 30 seconds after that one and I had a full arrest in progress and was talking a women through CPR instructions for her husband. Really which one took priority? Yes the man ended up dying but the women that called for 80 Main was drunk and pissed because her boyfriend took her smokes away from her.

As a guard, I have to keep my cool even when people are abusive towards me which is a lot of times. If that cop can't keep his cool then he has no business wearing the badge.

officer should have gotten a formal reprimand. suspension seems kinda weak to me. you wouldnt get away with this kind of crap in my tech support department, you certainly shouldnt get away with it handling 911 calls.
