A liminal mind is all I've ever known.

| | | I just don't like Chev trucks, they seem to be about 10 years behind on their styling, rust seems to be an issue in these parts, and they suffer from chronic front hub bearing failure. And the Duramax diesel is a whore. My mom has a '95 Dodge Ram with a 318 that she bought brand new, and it's been great aside from all the paint falling off, but that's to be expected with a Mopar. I really like the styling of the Dodges, too, especially the most recent version of the Ram. It gets pretty decent mileage, too - and is usually hauling a trailer either full of antiques, or with a car on it.

| | | Heh, I think one of those Dude trucks was for sale in my area a few years ago. The 88-98 GMT400 truck is above and beyond any other brand in overall balance of quality, reliability, ease of maintenance, and styling combined with modern looks. The only problem is they made them way too long without a refresher, back when I first got my license I didn't like them because they still looked like an 88, and I didn't like the NBS because it looked too much like the old one. Now I love them. So easy to maintain. The only shortcomings are the transmissions, which last about as long as any other automatic transmission anyway and are cheap to rebuild and beef up, and the intake gaskets on the Vortec engines. Just have to keep an eye on them in case they're original and start to leak. They're really the LAST full sized truck to have things like real bumpers that you can USE as a bumper, and the first to have modern styling. They were about 10 years AHEAD of their time when they were first sold in early 1987 as 1988 models. Then the 99s came out, they were really nice for a while and I'd probably look into one for my next truck, but they aged quickly while other brands leaped ahead with styling and stuff. I don't like the new Chevys all that much, I did put wheels from an 09 on my 93 though. I love the new GMCs. Much better looking. I also love those new Dodge trucks. They seem well screwed together, here's hoping Chrysler pulls through and stays a domestic brand.
