because i used mine more for transport than getting rad (lol), my trucks were wicked tight. It was truly set for me as none of my friends could ride my boards. My skate was also ridiculously fast, mostly i think of the lubricating 'cocktail' i soaked my bearings in in. You can't go wrong with 3n1 oil, automatic transmission fluid a dab of power steering fluid. (it was what was in my shed)

i also use my board to travel/transport. i just bought and installed new "super-soft" bushings in my trucks, now my trucks are so loose, the board wobbles so much- i can barley stand on the board when it is not moving. tonight i went down a crazy steep hill and i thought i would get speed wobble and die, but with the speed came stability and everything was fine!

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn!

Ah, it's coming back to me now. Thanx for the reminder Logtec. I was going maybe 35-40 on my long board. Had forgotten to tighten the trucks for the speed run...speed wobs...lost control....instinctively "rolled out" Nature likes to round off the sharp points on things rolling downhill. Road Rash all over my left side. Next day, BIG pain left shoulder..E-Room..x-ray, fractured clavicle. Wife hid my boards for a loooooong time. I was 37 or so and it really was time to back off anyway. Miss it though.

I actually tried to ride one of my old beater boards in a empty pool once, all I can say is you better commit to that drop in, don't half ass it like I did.

Bare feet, shorts, no shirt, HELMET's haden't been invented yet, beside the fact you were a fag if you wore one!!!!! I ground down the tops of my toes, feet, elbow, shoulder, forehead. I was a damn goodlookin' kid up till that point.

P.S. Sam, How are those bearings coming, they've been soaking long enough.
Kurtz and I are awaiting your before photo's.

Awesome shirt Kurtz, I would be tempted to frame it, were you in that contest?

1978.......
Charlies Angels, Disco (YUK), American cars were at or near their worst performance levels, Stadium Motocross (Supercross) was starting to take off, and American riders were starting to dominate the sport, and continue to do so!! Skateboarding was still in it's infancy, compared to todays X Game and video game popularity levels.

Right on Old Guys!!!

"Men WILL be boys" indeed.

Yea cr400, I entered the "over 30" division(STFU), freestyle competition. Went on my ass on the Multiple-360 segment and had to bail out. Don't remember too much after all this time but a cupla things I recall.....Russ Howell doing 100, yes 100 continuous 360's... Oh, and some guy had a really wide board with 4 trucks and 8 wheels and rode it just fine in a half-pipe!

Sam..........................................................those pics?

Really? The over 30 class? I was 17 or 18 in 1978.

Well per my wife your in great shape, she saw the last set of pictures you sent, and said " look at the shoulders, chest, and ass on that guy"

I guess that means I should rescind my offer of taking you surfing if you ever get out here?

And Sam must not be the mechanic I thought he was? These bearings seem to have gotten the best of him!!

Well alright, extension granted, but if you have trouble with those bearings, I can next day air out my special mixture of stenchified urine and taco vomit, this should make short work of any corrosion, or it can remove rhino lining if needed.

Kurtz and I don't have the luxury of time, like you young kids do!!

Let me know if you need me to work up a batch of product for your bearings?

P.S. Really dig the new avitar!

Stenchified urine and taco vomit? cr you wordsmith you!
Tell the wife thanks re: the butt-kudos (I smith too). I hate the "old guy with no ass" look. But, please, please don't rescind your surfing invitation.
I'm hoping to take you up on it while I can still hold my breath a long time.
Sam: Take your time and do it right! No "beefaroni".

If it weren't for those new fangled board leashes, I'd have drowned long ago,
once you've been thru the washing machine, and can no longer tell up from down, I just go to my ankle, find leash, follow to safety, hold on to board while gasping for breath, repeat as necessary, usually two to three times.

The leash will break according to murphys law and wave height, that's when holding your breath becomes very important!!

Surf offer still stands.

Bearing soup offer still stands!!!
