Garbage Day

I'm not complaining about garbage collection - unlike Toronto and Windsor we're still getting garbage pick up out here in the boonies (eastern Durham Region).

But, in April, the Region decided to change weekly garbage collection to once every two weeks.

Instead of three bags every week, it's now four bags every two weeks.

Anyways, it's been like this since April.

Yet on weeks they do not pick up, the family STILL puts the garbage out at the curb. It doesn't take long for the various animals, both domestic and wild, to rip open the bags.

Now garbage is flowing out and the wind is picking it up and blowing it into MY yard!

I've been patient for April, May and June. Now I'm dropping by to enlighten my neighbor how this complicated new garbage calendar works.

How friggin' difficult is it to do it every two weeks?!?

Sorry Fedge. I just figured you would not mind it piling up in your hedges. It would really stink up my house hanging there for 2 weeks.

Sincerely,
Your inconsiderate slob of a neighbor.

After moving cities we have to adjust to biweekly garbage pickup too.

It's not so bad except the region doesn't take yard waste. It's been really rainy and the new grass has been growing well so we've had to cut and bag it. Let's just say by garbage day next week it's going to be smelling really really bad in the garage...

I have private garbage removal where I live. The guy came TODAY...on Canada Day...and removed my garbage.

a lot of my parents' neighbors in richmond hill don't understand the bi-weekly garbage thing either, even though it's been happening for like a year...you'd think after that long they'd realize...

in haliburton there isn't even a garbage day, really - garbage day is when you take your trash and drive it out to the dump. luckily, my landlord or landlady takes mine for me every week when he or she collects the bags of garbage from the gym they own...but seriously, what a pain in the ass!

Try living in an area where you have a few days out of the week where you can go to the dump.

Where Sam and I live, we get maybe 4 or 5 days out of the week when the dump is actually open. What's worse is that they're only open during the day, not late into the evening and if you work the old 9 to 5, you're screwed, unless you remember to get up on Saturday and go take the garbage. On top of that, you have to pay 2.50 american for a sticker to put on the back that lets you dispose of each bag that's 33 gallons or less.

It's not really a dump, it's a "transfer station" where you take your garbage and put it in a big trailer that's hauled to a waste disposal facility. Also you can take recyclables for free, but what irks me about that is the town makes money off of that little arrangement by selling the shit by the ton.

I sort of do that already. Beer bottles, denuded chicken carcasses, the dog's shit. Just toss it over the fence and then blame the OTHER neighbour.
