I had a 1988 Coupe Deville. I got hit by a truck at 30 miles an hour and it bounced off it rumpled my rear quarter panel a bit but no real damage. I drove the car under its own power to the body shop. I sold it when gas started to get expensive and have regretted it ever since.

1988 Pontiac Fiero Formula. One of 5,600 built. Bought it 2 years ago and I have no regrets. Learned to drive and aced my driving exam in it. Daily driver and show car with 92k miles. Sitting in the garage right now.

That thing is the twin to my neighbors Fiero, I helped him take the motor out three times, swapping between a Mera that he bought, he finally settled for putting a larger v6 from a Camero, 3.8liter I think, everything CAD plated or powdercoated. Great looking, and loves to go sideways.

All I could find was a photo of the Mera/Fiero, sitting next to a stage3 SRT4.

when i was looking at the Fiero, I was 19 years old and the car was still fairly new. Now, the insurance can't be much for them.

Not a big fan of kit Ferraris.....I'll take the neon.

Favorite Car.....

79 Z28.............after the tree incident I sold it to a guy who took my engine out and put it in a boat. The rest I'm sure went to the junkman.

The Mera isn't a kit car, it was sold thru Chevy dealerships, the fit and finish had to meet with GM standards, they had a full new car warranty.

Co-worker has a PERFECT '88 Fiero GT. I love it. It's won a few shows.

Other than my Tercel (Which is my favourite car I've owned, and I still have it), I miss my '86 Shelby GLH-S the most. It's been crushed flat and made into an Aztec or something by now. I'm the guilty party for finishing that one off, the car was a total rustbucket. Still have the drivetrain, all the ground effects, interior, etc in case I ever find another Dodge Omni.

None taken, I agree!! Not worth the trouble either, he got pulled over by L.A.P.D and they treated it like felony stop because the plate and VIN came back as a 88 pontiac, took a half hour to sort that out.

No doubts about that, but he was down by the L.A. docks and there is a lot of stolen car activity, and chop shops in the area, so he was in a bad place just lookin' to be pulled over anyway. They had 4 cars on him, probably each with a trainee, they used him for class that night.

It was a Pontiac dealer-option rebody. In 1987 they used the GT and in 88 the Formula.

What Bandi means to say is that he is not insulting Gm's fine build quality but asking if the motor will throw a piston through the side of the block before or after you drive the car off the lot.
