It was pretty good but it wasn't no Wrath of Khan.

Haha, I really think the franchise needed a kick-ass, action packed movie like that. I think Abrams did a decent job of making something fresh that still paid homage to the original series.

They did a pretty good job. At least it leaves everything wide open for a bunch of sequels.

Let the cash roll in show carry on!

Loved it.. I've been dying for something Star Trek for way too long. This fully fit the bill, and was absolutely worth seeing in IMAX. What REALLY pissed me off is after 2 weeks in my local IMAX theater, it was replaced by an animated movie!!!

Hope your not complaining about Up, because that was a damn fine movie.

Exactly. Shutterbug and I really enjoyed the 3D effects too. Great job!

Very good movie, exposed a lot of people to the Trek franchise who otherwise would've just kept using Capt Kirk & Spock as punchlines to corny jokes. Hopefully brought a lot of new Trekkies onboard.

I love seeing the original Spock (Leonard Nemoy), gave me goose bumps. He is definately starting to show his age, however. How is his health now-a-days anyway?

From what I hear, still doing well considering his age. Wonder if he'll outlive the original cast? Two are already dead (Deforest Kelly & James Doohan) and Walter Koenig had some heart problems a few years back.

I still haven't seen the movie. I was kind of turned off by the special effects and all that. And the new people. I'm only 25 but I like my Trek old fashioned. I couldn't even watch Enterprise. It still irks me!

But I'll rent the movie and support it that way, I guess...

No, it was not Up I was referring to, that came out WELL after Star Trek was new in theatres on IMAX. it was some kid's movie, I don't remember which.

Still, I don't care how good Up turned out to be, I would not replace Star Trek with it after only 2 weeks. that's an insult.

Out of the entire movie, Scotty was the best.

So now that a few months have passed, how's everyone's opinions changed? I've cooled on the movie a bit, because I think the only thing more ridiculous than Star Trek canon is subverting it with technobabble. Well cast movie but that's it.

I still think it was a good movie. The "alternate time-line" thing opens the door for all the sequals Abrams could ever dream of, which if they are as successful as his first Trek movie, are a GREAT thing for this franchise.
