I thought seriously about buying one but the legroom for the driver and passenger are quite limited if you're close to six feet or more. And the new dash in 95 cuts the windshield viewing area, to barely a foot high in places.

The AWD is not very reliable. Strong engine, RWD is good, tons of room in the back. More truck than minivan, more like a scaled down old style van. They can be found cheap too. Decent rigs, just not quite right for everyone.

More: Someone told me they run hot because there is not much room around the engine cover for air circulation. He said valve seals? (I think) get brittle and dry out. Mechanics on here will know much more.

The Astro/Safari drives like shit... but actually, they're a damn good hauler and the 4.3 is tough, just a bitch to work on with the layout.

When I worked at the Porsche shop, our "tow truck" was a '92 Astro with over 450,000 on the clock, most of those kms it had a car behind it.

...I'd get a TDI Transporter, though.

I owned an Astro Cargo van for 2 years or so. Do not expect it to be refined in any way but you can expect it will be reliable. The 4.3L is a bullet proof engine and the rest of the van... well there's not really anything to it so it's not hard to repair (aside from working on the engine)

If your business involves any kind of hauling of tools or equipment, it's likely your best option for a workhorse van

The spider injectors on some early 90 to mid 90 4.3s where problematic. These would be the engines with the vortec intake manifold but with out the vortec heads.
