Lately, every 2000 and older chev truck has been blowing brake lines. I despise doing large lines... my hands are usually so sore after doing the whole truck.

Any other automotive pet peeves out there?

Had to do that on a 454 powered Winnebago last year. And I'm fucking tiny. HATED it... then the engine exploded 2 weeks later and I had swap that. Had to remove it through the driver's door with a forklift.

Pulling it underneath with you, and rolling it up on your chest is a battle all itself, but then to lift it, get the pan on your forearm, tail shaft on your knee, line up the pilot, the splines, and alignment dowles, all while trying to reach back and spin the tailshaft to get any type of movement at all, to line up those splines.

After the 4th attempt, I realized there was a dowel pin stuck in the rebuilt trans that clashed with the pin stickin' out of the motor, once removed, the 5th drag, roll, lift, align, twist, spin, push was perfect.

It was raining, and dark, cold, wet, sucky. that was just one trans, I've done at least 10 or more!!!!

Once I had to swap out the alternator in my Honda Civic. thought at the same time I'd replace the front brake pads, and look at a belt that was making noise.

noticed the waterpump was weeping, figured I might as well do the timing belt, and spark plugs while I was at it, had a front axel making the clickety click, might as well pick both of those up to? Radiator could use a flush, oil change & filter................

Around $300 bucks for parts, and loss of a weekend was well worth the result of all that labor, I'll bet it would have been over a thousand bucks to have all that work done?

I don't know what type of thread lock compound Honda uses? But I wish they'd stop!!!!!

I had a Baja, and a Square back, can't remember looking at the square back springs ever, and had no hood on the baja. Probably a good thing as those springs sound painful.

Oh' and the changing the trans in the rain, I've done that more than once, it makes a tough job even worse. Only good thing out of the last one was I now own a transmission jack, have used it once, had no idea what I was missing out on!

WORST. TRANSMISSION. TO. REPLACE. EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
1996 Ford Explorer 4x4.
it comes out easy, but is an absolute FUCKER to put back in. Everything is in the way, nothing will move and it takes at least two guys to muscle it back into place.

well this one may be trivial, but a post 94 j body blower fan. its up under the glove box, oh and if the resistor pack has never been changed change it while changing the fan. I once had the fan die in july... then the resistor died a week later...

it was hot as hell in there and only the second time i did it did i realize its just best to take the passenger seat out while doing this, that way you can lay down and not have all the blood rush to your head!

yeah, that was not the best arrangement GM could've come up with, but this was during the whole cab-forward craze.

Nismo you can be such a tool.
i replaced the transmission on a BMW 318... yeah, intelligently designed my fat ass. I've also worked on my fair share of Volkswagens... if it's not air cooled, it's a nightmare.
Honestly, there is NO FUCKING CAR that is a pleasure to work on. None. Nada. Zip.
they are all grabastic fucking whores that hate.

you're too young, too naive, or too much of a fanboy to realize that.
