Question; I'm helping someone with a 3/4 ton Chevy Express with a 5.7l he just changed the fuel pump, and it idles fine but when it is put in gear and given gas it stalls. It can be driven but only slowly for the same reason.

Thoughts?

The personal responsibility train left the station years ago, and you gave it the finger as you watched it leave.

Thoughts?

does it have a CEL or SES light displayed?
is it the one with the drive-by-wire throttle?
is it the TBI? TPI? MPFI? engine?

hard diagnosis without the specifics... what kind of ignition? Is it a Vortec 5.7?
.

I was just helping put the gas tank back up, I'll have to look at it again in the morning.

Check for corrosion around the PCM connectors... where they have the PCM mounted on those vans, all the rain water and stuff runs straight into them, and the plugs get all bitched up. The wires tend to rot too...

It's in the front driver's side of the engine compartment.

(And that p0463 code always seems to be lingering on those things)

when you start getting codes like that, Bandi is correct 100%; there are larger issues at hand.

how long has the auto industry been building cars? you'd a thunk they would figure out that water, corrosion, rust is bad. They managed to figure out that oil and water should not mix, they have remedied that problem, save for a head gasket here and there.

I think along with wind tunnel testing, they should do a dunk pond test, do it with inmates just to make it more real life.
