Very cool! I love Fieros, and will own a plastic fantastic one of these days.

My co-worker is obsessed (I've mentioned his PERFECT '88 GT on here before), and a former co-worker of mine was the president of the Ontario Fiero Association. He and his son own like 20 of them combined.

I always thought one would make a freaking awesome rally car...

Well you can't be the center of comedy all the time

Wasn't the fires just a misprint on the dipstick that the oil pan held 3 liters instead of 4.5 so people were starving the cars of oil?

No idea if it was from a misprint or if it was just suicide for being a Pontiac.

first engine i ever rebuilt by myself was out of a 1985 Fiero 2M4... 2.5L Tech IV.
i had the ass of the car about four feet off the ground and dropped the entire engine/subframe/transmission/axle assembly out as one piece. Guy in the club I'm a member of has a built up 2.5L... I want to say it's a Donovan block, or something.

Nismo, we're having our last cruise of the season Friday evening in Plattsburgh... you're more than welcome to come down.

The fires only affected the 1984 models with the 2.5 Iron Duke. GM reports about 200 cases of fires out of over 370,000 Fieros built from 1984-1988; not even a full percentage of all cars produced. All cars were recalled and checked for the fire issue.

What people don't pay attention to (and why Pontiac did not market this I have no clue) is the fact that the Fiero is actually one of the safest cars of its time; its front and rear impact ratings were up there with the Volvo. I have seen and heard some horrible wreck stories with these cars, and the people will walk away from the wreck.

Rolled twice then went off a cliff and burst into flames. Driver climbed out and shot this pic afterward.

Hit a tree doing 50 and survived. Remember this is before airbags and locking seatbelts.

Interesting, the Fiat X19 was also a small mid rear engine car that was engineered to be very safe. 50 mph wipeout was were they set the bar, or guard rail

Impressive looking side guards in the door, they really held up. Those wee trunks in the back are cute. I could go for a Fiero if they are cheep and reasonably reliable. Not being able to recline the seat much? is a drag, but rear engine is good.

I learned to drive in a Fiero.

Had one and loved it... an '81 X1/9 Bertone. It was freaking terrible and impossible to get parts for. So I bought another Fiat this year. It's harder to get parts for than the X1/9, and I love it.

Loved both of my Fieros. Both GT. Both 87's. My first one was an automatic. Still had fun in it tearing around corners and such, but I learned to drive standard in the last one I had.

The clutch never let me put it into reverse without shutting down the car, but I still used it. Sold it to my dad and he found it was not the slave cyl. what we thought was the problem. Can't remember, but I'll ask later.

I miss my Fiero.
