There is a brand new .45 Hi Point at an outdoor store around the block for $175. Yes or no?

For the price, they are perfectly acceptable firearms. Granted, 179 is a little high. I sell em for 159 at work.

Now, i wouldnt use it for home defense unless it was a last resort, but for goofing around at the range and abusing, its damn hard to beat one. So what if the slide is made out of the same metal as your toaster. If you break it, send it back and they'll give you a new one. Heck, buy a busted one at a pawn shop and send it in. Regardless 100% warranty for the life of the firearm. Heck, sent one back for a customer a while back. Nearly entirely melted in a house fire. They sent him a new one and some extra magazines.

So as a play around or handload tester, they cant be beat.

Sounds pretty wicked for a play gun. Ive been doing some reading, and i cant find many in depth reviews about the damn things. Everyone hates them, or people love them...and thats all they say about them.

Their carbines are MUCH MORE RELIABLE than the handguns.
Hi-Points are American-made and have a great warranty. I understand that they're fairly reliable but:
They are big and bulky.
Cops see them and think you're a gangster.
If you must have new and cheap - save up and get a Ruger P97 for God's sake....
Or get a police trade-in Glock.

Ok, I'm sure they'd be great for screwing around and not worrying about damaging it. They're inexpensive and the idea of an easy replacement plan is pretty cool too but DAMN they're ugly. UG-LY. And clunky.

These things can't be beat for the price. Yes they are really ugly and bulky but you can't have it all for $175. I bought a matched pair in 45. acp and have had a lot of fun with them. The magazines need some tuning and keeping the feed lip clean helps with the jamming most people complain about.
