I have 2 Kenwood TK-3180 complete with batteries and chargers and such...they say stunned and I have no idea what to do with them...I really just want to sell them and buy a pair of Motorola Talk-Abouts....I bought these Kenwoods at a local auction and thought I could use them as walkie talkies but it's not that easy.
The local dealer is being a KNOB!! He won't talk to me about them without me paying him for his time...
Can anyone do anything with these or anyone interested in buying them from me?

I'd be careful. Because it says stunned, that means a system operator intentionally sent the radio a suicide command.

The radio *can* be revived, that isn't the issue. The issue is that since it was inhibited, the radios were more than likely stolen...it would be reasonable to assume their serial numbers are flagged as such.

If you were UEing with these radios and got pinched...they could get curious and run the serial numbers...if they did, well...

That aside, they're very nice radios, to say the least.

In Motorola SmartZone, P25 Trunking, I think EDACS, and even conventional systems with MDC1200, you can render a radio disabled via a button on the dispatcher's console. Its used if there's someone with an unauthorized radio on the system or if a radio is lost.

A Standard LTR system has no way of identifying a individual radio since it does not transmit a radio ID over the control channel; its very insecure actually and its pretty easy to slip a radio onto the system if you know what you are doing.

Now, a PassPort LTR system solves by adding 3 types of radio ID from the radio itself which requires authentication to the control channel.

The auction I got them at was for a business that was out of business, a bankruptcy I think. I was there with a friend who was looking at buying some of the construction equipment that was there...

ANYWAYS....I'm thinking of just selling them, I had them on Ebay but no one bid but I got a lot of stupid questions from people wanting to buy parts off of them...what a PITA!

They can be stunned over LTR using MDC or FleetSync (Kenwood's version of MDC). This can happen over conventional or LTR.

Well yes, but an LTR system alone does not have that support.

However, Kenwood radios even when they are stunned, they can be still written to the radio but you just loose all the existing memory in the radio.
