| | | So, my wife calls me Tuesday and says there are three dogs lying in the shade of the sign at her job (she works at a church). The office guy Ray and my wife go out to check on them. One is a large, maybe 100 pounds, curly haired mutt. One is the biggest Bassett Hound anyone has ever seen. The last is a small white poodle mix. My wife describes this as being like The Incredible Journey. The big dog is trying to get his buddies to move along. He'll get up, walk a few steps, and then look back trying to get his friends to come. They are both too pooped and hungry, and then the big dog comes back and lays down next to them. Apparently this process goes on a dozen times. My wife took them some water to try and make them feel better. Its obvious that the two smaller dogs are done. QP is worried that they are going to get hit trying to cross the road, or that they are suffering, so she starts calling animal rescue places. Not one will take the dogs from an individual. Finally, one of them says "call the police. If they report it, we will come out and get them." What happens? Animal Control comes out for the dogs. F&%king great. Its a 72 hours to euthanasia place. My wife calls me, very upset, and then I get upset. It plain to see that these dogs came from the same home, and have been abandoned. We call Animal COntrol to say we'll take the dogs. Nooooooo. $110 dollars per dog, and they have to make sure our home is "suitable" for the dogs. Can you believe that shit? They will kill them for free, but we can't just go pick up the dogs we called about in the first place. I'd have done just about anything to save those three, but I simply don't have a spare $330 right now. The point of all this is that the three of them get put down at noon today. A good home for three dogs wasn't enough. They wanted $330, so instead they get to pay to put them down, pay to dispose of them, etc. Assholes.
| I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

| | | Fucking sucks when you try to do the right thing, and it blows up in your face. We spotted a dog in the pound, 120 pound mastiff, had been there 6 months of his 1.5 years on earth, biggest ball of energy we've ever seen, We told them that we would take him if nobody else would, we had 4 dogs already, but two were old and fading fast. The pound held him for two more months till his third scheduled put down day arrived, We picked him up and took him home, he's the sweetest dum dum you've ever seen, no wonder they never put him down, everybody there loved him, and they knew somebody would come along that could deal with all his energy, it's tough but we love him!! I wish I had spare cash to send to save at least one of those dogs!! Good luck, and know that you guys did the best you could, it doesn't always turn out roses and rainbows, but keep trying.

| They don't care about the money. They get paid by the government no matter what happens to the dogs.
