So Today I drove to PA to do some splorin. Good fun was had by all.
On the way home, Thing's were good..

My buddy Eric, Motions for me to make a left, So I do... Onto a one way street, Going the wrong way..

And with my luck, There is a cop sitting at the intersection down the road...

Me: "Sorry, My friend here motioned for me to turn down here, DIdnt realize it was a one way, I don;t live around here."

Cops:"(Stare at me blankly) License,Registration and proof of insurance(Flips his lights on)"

Me"Ugh, Alright(Grabs License, Insurance and registration and PBS card and hands it to them)"

Cops:"Have you been drinking?"

Me:"No, I just didnt realize this was a one way. Sorry about that"

So they sit there for 20 god damned minutes with all my shit.

After a while the one cop gets out. Hands me a fucking ticket..

Really? You fucking power hungry prick. I accidently turned down the street. Saw you down the road and didnt try to escape you, Wasnt a smart ass to you. I explained what happened..

NOW, I gotta take off from work to go to court to fight this thing to hopefully get it dropped or lessened.

Does anybody know if you go to court and still get convicted, Do you still get the points on your license? I was told no, But I know each state is different.

Pay attention and stop blaming other people for yourself not paying attention. Its a one way street and things could have been a lot worse than getting pulled over. I bet you will fear one way streets for the rest of your life.

You broke the law, he saw it and gave you a ticket. It sucks but it happens to all of us.

It's definitely worth going to court over, if you have an otherwise good driving record most likely you'll get probation before judgement so you'll just have to pay a fine and you'll get no points. If the judge is a prick and doesn't give you PBJ and does find you guilty then you'll have to pay the fine and get the points. Not too big of a deal unless you already have a lot of points and are close to getting suspended. Your insurance won't find out about it unless you're relly unlucky and they just happen to pull your record. I got a ticket years ago with points and my insurance never even knew about it.

You might get lucky and the cop won't show and you can get it dismissed.

Cops on traffic duty are obligated to hand out tickets.
The guy was just doing his job.
He sat with your info for 20 minutes to kill time and justify continuing the phone conversation he's having about . . . whatever - cops are just people, most with more problems than the average joe.
Cop life sucks - especially in New York City.
If he's like every other NYC beat cop I know , his sergeant is on him because he’s been late for roll call a few days; he’s been fighting his wife, who’s just about to leave him because he never takes her anywhere and doesn’t spend enough time at home and the kids need braces and the Pilot needs new tires and where are we gonna get the money to pay for all that and we haven’t had a real vacation for years and all you do is hang around with other cops and you’ve been drinking too much lately and I could’ve married that wonderful guy I was going with when I met you and lived happily ever after and why don’t you get a regular job with regular days off and no night shifts and decent pay and a chance for advancement and no one throwing bottles or taking wild potshots at you?
Meanwhile, the hottie he met on a call last month says her period is late. Internal Affairs is investigating him for wildly fucking up a disorderly last week; his captain is pissed at him for ticketing a councilman’s car;

If the officer shows up at trial it will not be productive to fight it. That's the problem with begging for mercy, you've just admitted wrongdoing...

Just pay the ticket and get on with it. I don't think it's that big of a deal anyway

it doesn't matter who shows up at your court appearance... it's all about the fines and surcharges. I fought a ticket tooth and nail a few years ago because, for once, I wasn't actually speeding. The cop admitted that the range he had me at was questionable so the judge still nailed me with what's called an "1110-A", which in legal speak is "failure to obey a traffic control device". Why? because I had told the cop that I was going 70 in a 65. Never mind that traffic was going 70. The service manager where my brother works is a former NY State Trooper and one of the reasons he retired when he did was the fact that troopers coming out of the academy were being taught 'ticket! ticket! ticket!' and that everyone was the enemy. Which as you all know is not the greatest way to be as a trooper. So much emphasis has been placed on revenue enhancement that actually being a good and decent cop has been pretty much shitcanned... trooper, and to the same extent police officers in New York, are now meter maids with Glocks.

I'm going to side with the OP and agree the cops were pricks. Best believe that if it had been a cute girl who started crying she would have been allowed to skate by.

Pay ticket, tell judge sorry, possibly pay a little more in court fines not to get it on your license. Though if I recall you posting here before, you've received 2983493 speeding tickets so- good luck with that.

NY cops are also awesome at mis-filing things. Slim, but possible.

We make mistakes, we pay for them. Guy ain't really a prick for not letting you off. Guy coulda been a LOT harsher. Doin' his job, ticketing some kids, everyone goes along their way, and you remember to pay attention to one way streets from here on.

But he didn't run from the cops. You saw that part right? He didn't. He was acting like a big boy. He should be patted on the head and given a cookie!

That sucks man. Always double check when driving in the city. I've had my GPS try to tell me to go the wrong way down one ways before.

Pretty much if you get pulled here, your getting a ticket for something.
