...but we havent bought them yet. I looked at a Ruger SR9 9mm today, so she went back to the store and checked it out and fell in love with it. I am chosing between a Ruger P345 in .45acp, or Ruger P944 in .40 SW. Does anyone have experience with any of these 3 pistols, and what can you say about them?

Never owned a Ruger pistol. Shot a P-85 years ago and hated it. That said, Ruger generally makes fine weapons.

Good luck.

It just didn't fit me at all. Wasn't comfortable, controls were badly placed for me, trigger pull was odd, grip wasn't comfortable for my hands and more. I know people who have them and like them just fine.

Now, I'm picky about pistols. I carry a Browning Hi-Power religiously. It FITS my hands. Everybody wants different things.

Ruger's pistols are adequate.
May I inquire, why not a Glock? Do you HAVE to have a safety?
My pawnshop Glock 22 went 8 years without being cleaned.
20,000+ rounds until it started failing to eject because the ejector spring was clogged with junk.
I dare you to run any other gun for a decade without cleaning or maintenance.
That's not uncommon of Glocks.

I dont like how any Glocks feel in my hand. They all feel like a brick. Yes i must have a safety on all my guns, as im just a recreational shooter and believe safety comes before fun.

Have you shot many Rugers? How did you like how they shot?

A guy I shoot with pretty regularly keeps his dad's service P-85 as a range gun.
I have shot it quite a bit.
It's adequate - it's never jammed or failed.

My consideration is that the Ruger is fairly unique and it exists in far fewer number than a Glock, XD, or a Sig.
That said, accessories and parts will be a pain in the ass to acquire and will be expensive.
Ditto magazines. I like to keep 20-30 mags on hand per pistol. I like my mags to be interchangeable too - so my G22 mags work in my 23 and 27, ditto the 17 mags which work in the 19 and 26.

All that said:
If you plan to shoot it every couple weeks, 100 or 200 rounds at a time, it is probably a great weapon at a great price.
