Had a 2003 Corolla in the shop today with the check engine light on... I have a Mac scanner which told me what was wrong and let me run the specific EVAP test, but I was curious... the 'rolla pretty much shares a platform with the Toyota Matrix (Pontiac Vibe), so I plugged in the GM Tech 2 scanner, lied to it and said the car was a Vibe, and it let me do everything to the Corolla, even play around with injector balance and stuff.

I figured there would at least be an ID key programmed into the ECU saying the car was a Toyota and not a GM but nope. It was one of those little things I found kind of cool.

I'd hate to think of what the Tech 2 has been in contact with... all of the sudden this innocent Corolla will need intake and head gaskets, a vent valve, wheel bearings, the lights will fill up with water and the trim panels will start to rattle.

according to what I have been reading, that is a reasonable thing to expect from a current Toyota.
