He admitted not knowing which axle to install and saying he "had a 50/50 chance to get it right" to my father today. When I picked it up yesterday he said "It was good to go". He should have warned me about the axle or maybe just done his research better. He "installed the correct axle today and it's good to go". We'll see what the dealer says tomorrow. The car is "point a to point b"-able for now. I still have an ill feeling about this.

He wasn't too sure which axle to install? I would be telling him I'm not too sure which account to write the cheque on to pay him. "Oh, it bounced. Oh well, let's see what I can do about that!"

I hate to say this but I believe it's time to find another mechanic. His laziness caused you a lot of hassle, could have killed or maimed you or someone else and now, he seems to have that "oh well" attitude.

And if my mechanic told me that he wasn't too sure which axle to install, I would tell him to find out immediately if he did. Bloody ridiculous!

So the mech might be an idiot but he's an honest idiot. We brought it back and he took care of it. He reseated the axle, new wheelbearings, new speed sensor. We just did the oil change and tightened the belts last night.

There is a new issue, but neither my father nor I know what the hell it is. When the car accelerates from a stopped position (IE Red light) the car makes a weird revving noise. It only happens in lower gears (1st-2nd). There is no performance hit on the car, just the noise. The more I drive the car, the less it happens so it may just be from going from doing 200+ miles a week to minimal use when the first shit happened. If I drive the car for an hour or two, it makes no noise. But if I drive it 10 minutes into town, it'll make the noise. Weird.


Might have found the answer, will look into it.
