I'm running again communications for another rally this. This one is the Mt Hood Rally, which is a regional rally event.

Today, we did the Recce which is open to all vehicles.

So far, all I have to say is that everyone thinks they can be in a rally if they have a Subbie...

What a slut.

Used to do all kinds of crap with cars, pretty sure these have been posted before.

I always wanted to get into a rally, maybe even rally-cross. Would be fun with the RWD vehicle I have now.

i'm still looking for a 96-98 Cavalier body to rally... i've located a Cobalt Turbo SS engine/transmission in a wrecked 09. The engine will adapt to the old J-body and I think it would be fun to rally something like that.

Being a Ford guy, I always wanted to take an early 90's Escort hatch and put a Focus SVT engine in there. Would make for an interesting ride!

Good idea though. How easy is your swap?

mid-80's Escort with a turbo Zetec out of a Focus would be a decent/economical swap as well.

putting a 2.0L T into a Cavalier is pretty straight forward... the 2.2L Ecotec was offered in that body, it's wiring the beast that might be a pest.

I was thinking, if I ever wanted to do some real work on a car, I'd go stand-alone and run without OBDII. Fuck OBDII.

Another bastard child creation I thought of would be a W8 or W12 ourt of a Passat or Audi, and shoving it into a MK1 or MK2 Golf or Jetta. Might need some sheetmetal fabrication for that swap!

Well, the rally is over.

Winner is car 224, which is a Impreza WRX STI.

I was at Midpoint on South Gilhouley Road (Bandi, if you have access to the 2009 Oregon Trail route book, its the same stage) which on our stage, car 742 which was a Toyota, flipped over only 1 mile from flying finish. He recovered and contined to place dead last out of 22 cars in the race. Only 3 vehicles did not finish the race out of the original count of 25.

I have video for everyone to watch; I'll post it tomorrow.

Cool. I use to have one. Fun little car. I really hated letting it go but a friend needed a car and I was nice enough to loan it. Last I saw it, poor thing was on its side crying screaming it was touched in a bad place. Sigh.
