| | | Alright, I'll keep it brief. Basically my grandparents moved from Canada to Hong Kong with my cousin, leaving behind a computer and monitor. A short bit of back story before I continue; my brother treats his stuff like shit. A while back I had a laptop and he was pissed off at me so he decided to kick it. Instead of getting punished, what happened was that my mom got another laptop... and gave it to him... I got his old desktop which was incredibly slow and even after I tuned it up it would restart whenever the top of the tower was hit with a force larger than having a small marble dropped on it. Later, he broke his laptop and got another one. Rinse and repeat twice until he gets a laptop. During this time I was able to keep the desktop running until last year. I was without a computer for 3 months or so (My life was on a 2 gig USB stick), while he's going through laptops like wildfire. My uncle bought his daughter a computer and through some inner family politics I was able to get it and he bought another one. Unfortunately, all of the front USB ports were shorted and my mother decided to procrastinate on getting me the receipt until the warranty ran out. Now, he still has his laptop and I took possession of my cousin's computer and am running a dual monitor setup. Let me also take the time to mention that my brother is doing poorly in school (regular program), smokes pot (he's 15) and spends all his time locked up in his room, while I'm busting my ASS doing a program in school called IB (Basically doing some first year and second year level stuff in high school), performing pretty well at it and volunteering regularly on the side. Now my mom is pissed that I'm giving my old computer to my brother and I want to grab a CRT monitor off of craigslist for him. The "solution" is that I pay out of my savings for an LCD monitor for either him or me and give him one of my monitors if I want to keep my setup. I then either pay and get 2 monitors, or don't pay and keep 1 monitor. Either way, he gets to keep a laptop as well as a desktop with an LCD panel. Obviously, fuck this shit. I'm going to "get him the monitor tomorrow" until I move out.

| | | Yeah, I live with my parents, still, and I live with my sister being their favorites. Always have and it'll never change. Sam listens to it more than I wish he had to, sadly. I was the one that busted my ass in high school and college to get where I am today, making twice the money my dumb bitch of a sister makes and I still get treated like dirt. Everything I did to try to repair our computers over the years would get me blamed for breaking them. So, all I can advise you to do with that is to buy locks and put boot passwords in. If you have to, get a job and buy your own stuff, then no one can tell you what you can and can't do with it. Just take this advice, pack your stuff when you get into college, take everything you have and get as far away from your parents and your siblings as you can, when you can. I made the mistake of staying here and I've been regretting it ever since. The situation will never change. I can attest to that. My sister is still the favorite, she's the one that gets whatever she wants. Me, I work for everything I have. The best thing you can do is get away from it before they drag you into it. Then, you end up like me. With my sister showing up every morning with her kid so that my mom can watch him while she proceeds to screw with my computer and my stuff, and if I say anything about it, I get my head ripped off. If I say ANYTHING about my sister's treatment of anything I own, I get my head ripped off. Your situation and mine are pretty close. If you ever need to talk, PM me and we'll set something up. Shael
