Knock on wood, ive never had much stolen from me (at least to my knowledge). I have had a couple of break ins when i was living in a hotel waiting for escrow on a house, but i think they only took the change in my ashtray and a cassette tape. Makes you feel dirty, doesnt it?

Yeah sucks. My brother had the truck at the time. I don't know if the doors were locked, or my vehicle is just venerable...

i used to live at a crappy apartment complex in fort worth, i had a trailer hitch and a gas can stolen from my truck one night. someone also tried to steal my camaro too, i went out to it one day to get some tools out of it and found the ignition pulled out and hot wired, what the would be thieves didn't know is that it didn't have a fuel pump, any fuel lines or a battery so yeah, they just cost me 20 bucks for a new steering column from the junk yard. i also had a gas can stolen from my truck in dallas

Lol try owning a vehicle that has no roof or doors on it during the summer. You learn to only leave things in it you don't care about. And I learned at a young age not to even bother locking a soft top vehicle. Cheaper to replace a pos cd player than a top.

i had a JVC stereo deck and a box with pair of 12" subs.
Smashed the drivers window parked in my driveway below my bedroom window. They missed the 300 dollar shades and the amplifier as well as keys to the truck all sitting in plain view.
They cut the wires too... fuckers. Not that I would expect a thief to tidy up his work as he went

In my previous job, I had a company laptop stolen out the back of the car. The theif himself watched me go to my car to grab something and noticed me forgetting to lock the back gate.

It was partially my fault, however, since I was at a store with an high amount of cameras on premises, their LP guy was following him on camera anyways and had the whole thing recorded with a clear picture of the booster in question.

The laptop was running a special image of Windows XP Embedded anyways so he couldn't just reformat and go.

A few months later, my boss gets a call from the Portland Police Bureau because the laptop with our company tags turned up in a laptop chop shop and yes you heard me. There was in fact an poor attempt at doing a laptop chop shop primary for the purposes of issuing laptops to other criminals.

First time (smashed passenger window on pickup), some change (probably about 30 cents worth.)

Second time (same window smashed), tire iron which was used to break into 12 other cars. I told the cop that I really wanted my tire iron back so I could wrap it around the little asshole's neck. The cop advised me that while I would be facing assault charges he would whole heartedly agree with me.
