I love apocalypse movies. I guess it's a guilty pleasure of mine. I also love John Cusack. This interesting combination I thought had potential, but after seeing some previews and discovering who directed it, I thought it would suck. Surprisingly it didn't. It had plenty of overexaggerated and grossly unrealistic escape scenes, but what else can you expect from the makers of The Day After Tomorrow? The graphics were very pretty though. I think they did an excellent job with that. They also had a few awesome characters. The guy who played the redneck in Zombieland was exceptional. The main thing that bothered me was that it was too fucking long. Otherwise I thought it was very entertaining, surprisingly insightful at points, and shamelessly displayed some dark aspects of our race. I'd give it a 6/10.

Agree! It was starting to drag on but overall very entertaining despite massive plot holes (I had to LOL at the flying giraffe)

Hahaha yes! But seriously, Woody Harrelson made the movie. Oh and Danny Glover as president really threw me off. I was definitely not expecting that since the first movie that comes to mind is Angels in the Outfield haha. He wasn't half bad though.

**spoiler alert**

Ahh all Woody did was eat pickles, shout and rant and all Glover did was get off'ed - at least in Independence Day the President flew a jet and kicked some ass!

I was just mad at Woody's character because he had a dirt bike with him up on the ridge, I thought at the last minute he was going to ride out of there but he stood by screaming "IT'S BEAUUUTUFULLLL"

Haha true. I think he would have been out of place if they kept him throughout the rest of the movie though.

mmmm disaster porn.

Bad plot? Check
Barely passable acting? Check
Lame dialogue? In abundance
Impossible plot points? Too many to count
BIG SHIT BLOWING UP? OH HELL YES.

It might be the masterpiece of the genre.

Just saw it, and I was a little disappointed in the action - it sucks the fun out when the hero seems just completely invulnerable. Oh look, now we're driving through a skyscraper as it collapses, whoop-de-doo!

John Cusack, why do you do these movies?!

Loved it, but I went for the special effects, you know, 4th row. I did notice that the poor sap "new husband" gets elected to do shit he's not prepared to do, like fly the plane on two occasions and gets not so much as an attaboy after doing a spectacular job. (The look on his face when he sees the giant russian bomber was worth the price of admission...Good flick.
