My oldest computer in use is a Sun Ultra 5, so about 11 years old. Runs a tape drive.

Oldest PC in use is a Dell GX150, about 9-10 years old. My firewall/webserver.

Oldest PC that I know still has all it's original parts is an Inspiron 4100 I got new in 2002. Still has the same XP install I put on it the day I got it.

Oldest computer that I know is working is a Sun Sparcstation 2, nearly 20 years old.

I have several computers older than that, an original XT and a few Apple IIs, but I haven't booted them up in years so I don't know if they are working.

I have a few DEC PDP boards from the 70s, but nothing approaching a complete machine.

A goal of mine is to get a working machine older than myself, so pre 1978.

when i was a mainframe op it was not uncommon to work on iron older than me. One favorite was our hitachi line printer, the thing had a built in vacuum cleaner. it dated to 1975, we retired it in 2002

I as well keep around my old Acer P2 333 which I purchased either in 1997 or 1998 with it's huge mofo case that stand about as high as a table (just fits under tables). After being my primary PC for about 3-4 years, it's supported many various FreeBSD and Linux flavor builds for various purposes. That thing is a work horse.

Then I have something a like 1000Mhz Celeron box or something stupid. I honestly like the 333 better for sentimental reasons. I use none of them anymore, just hold on to them.

About a year ago I finally broke down and threw away all my ISA cards, any ancient PCI cards that were larger than my hand, and any older non-ATA power supplies (the kind with the two plugs into the mobo). That was a sad sad day. About 20-30 cards went bye bye.

Just last week I almost fired up the 333 again to host a webserver, but decided against adding another $20 to my monthly electric bill by keeping it running 24/7. Now as I get older I'd rather just pay 5-10 bucks a month for a cheap host.

Gotcha!

I have a 1985 Compaq 8088 green screen that still works fine. It has become the computer for generating invoices at my shop, and will remain in that position until it dies or until I can no longer get cartridges for my Epson dot matrix printer. I can't believe the damn thing still runs, but it does. I've replaced the power supply (about 15 years ago) and the keyboard but thats it. I truly believe this PC is possessed by a demon.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

But can it run Crysis?

I really wish my parents kept our Commodore 64/128 load "*",8,1 I'd love to mess around with that thing these days. I guess I'll just have to stick with an emulator.

Before that we had and awesome Commodore Vic 20 with an awesome cassette tape drive. Just typing a paper on that thing was a nightmare.
