gsxrac must have saved this one for me

So, latest in the 4Sevens releases is a Quark model that uses a four-coloured MC-E emitter. One can choose whether the red, green, blue, or white segment is active, so the thing will output nice bright coloured light without needing gels and such. Nifty! No inbuilt mixing of colours or anything, though.

Plus, it has the usual brightness modes and such. Also, it's available in cool white and neutral white, which is just great.

It's US$99, but presumably our UER discount code will apply? I'd give it some serious thought if I needed a new light right now. Maybe when I get tired of sticking bits of plastic on the front of the ones I have...

I found a similar light here, for $13 I think its by browning. Might not be as bright, but what is the output on this thing?

150 lumens apparently - not sure if that's just for the white, or if the colours are similarly bright. By comparison, my Quark 123 is rated at 170 lumens.

Haha sorry I was slipping on the job! My fiancee just had our baby boy Monday night! Heres a picture that is somewhat flashlight related but mostly me showing off my baby boy lol (Im never without at least 2 lights!!!)

And the first thing I thought when I saw this was "WHOA wonder what those light painters on UER will think...?" And the white was the brightest one the rest of the colors are reduced depending on the wavelength I think. And FYI JUST the emitter on this light runs $20-$30 by itself unmounted....

Ugh man you have no idea how bad I want that damn Maelstrom!!! I didnt originally want the RGB Quark but the more I look at it the more I want it. I guess if I decide I dont like it there is always the Marketplace, or I can just give it to the little guy for his first torch =)

I think would probably just be for the white. I need to go back and snag that light. I'll put up some test shots but a friend has it and he says he likes it (also for drains, etc).

The other colors are shockingly dim on the MC-E color spec sheet.

Okay, I'll ask. Is there a stupid cheap version of this light sold on one of the discount websites? (I cannot justify spending 100 on a light)

Thanks,

Thanks,

There are some cheaper lights around that use multiple, low-power LEDs of different colour, but they're not at all in the same league as this. Really, the best cheap approach would be to pop some coloured plastic onto the front of a white light

Ya, I got filters already. Guess I'll eventually pony up the cash for the proper wavelengths vs crappy filters. lol. (I am sick of filters, used them way too much in the military)

Seeing that floody beam suddenly makes me want one - looks much more practical for my purposes than I'd previously thought.
