I went to the
ETL yard yesterday to take a couple pics of the cabooses they had there (1600 and 1610) when I was approached by a guy that came out of nowhere. After asking what I was doing and all that he warned me that the cops might come pay me a visit because some kids liked breaking the windows in the cabooses.
I got a few more shots then went across the road to their office. I asked the guys behind the desk if I could get a few pics of their equipment. They seemed somewhat confused by this simple request but gave me free run of the yard provided I stay out of their way and stayed out of the repair bays(mostly because I wasn't wearing my steel toes).
I spent about an hour there taking pictures and getting video of ETL108 leaving the repair bays and heading to the Ojibway yard. I stopped in the office to thank them again and got the superintendent's email address so I could send them some of my better pics.
Overall, I found it to be a pretty fun and worthwhile trip. Also found that the ETL guys are pretty kool and welcoming to railfans and photographers. Anyone in the Windsor area should go check out the Lincon Rd yard/offices as well as the Ojibway yards.
