I have a neighbor who is one of those guys who is well meaning but still ends up damaging or destroying almost everything he touches.

He uses a flash light for work and tears through a lot of batteries, (more than he can afford) and light bulbs and entire lights.

He was on a ladder and asked to borrow my Streamlight SL-20X I reluctantly agreed. He had it in his hands maybe 20 seconds before he lost his balance and dropped in 12ft or so on to the concrete.

Ouch!

I know Fenix make an 'impact-resistant' model, the TA-30, and there are doubtless others around as well. What sort of light does he actually need - he couldn't get away with those ultra-cheap coin-cell keyring lights from dealextreme, could he?

The most important thing for him is a long throw light that is rechargeable. Size and weight and other beam characteristics besides throw don't matter just durability first, throw second.

Oh and price is a factor for him.

Well what is is price range? Most all "high end" lights accept rechargeable li-ion cells. Maybe he should get a 4sevens Turbo? 4sevens has a great warranty so even if he does manage to break it they will fix it!
