I live in a small town that has no traffic lights whatsoever, just some stop and yield signs.

Problem is there's a huge senior's population, not to mention lots of new drivers too. I can't count how many times I've seen people not bothering to stop at all. It's to the point where I have to practically crawl up to each intersection I'm supposed to be able to go straight through, lest I get smoked by one of these idiots.

People who believe that if they put their hazard lights on that they can stop in a "No Stopping" zone. Then I have to try to go around them with two directions of traffic going through an opening only big enough for one car at a time. It is "No Stopping" for a reason.

whilst in Washington DC back in 99, i encountered the same phenomena... when the light went green, you crept into the intersection making sure no one was coming through it and then dropped the hammer to get through it.'

So you are choosing a drag-race-start and if the person going straight chooses a drag-race-start, then there is going to be a collision, and that is your fault. [snip]

I guess I forgot step 1.5, which is slam on the brakes if they launch too. I'm obviously not going to just close my eyes and blindly fly through the intersection. Also, I don't try it in the rain, let alone in the snow.

Redlights are still treated as optional in DC. Especially after midnight.

People parked next to me who, while I'm getting in to my car, decide to turn on their engine and peel out of the parking spot, narrowly missing taking of my open driver's side door.

OH, and people who cut me off, and then give me the Courtesy Wave when I flip them off.

I got cut off badly on the freeway a few days ago, had to slam on the brakes, nearly got hit by the car behind, I honked and was given the bird by the guy. I don't tend to get upset, people like that will get it eventually. Karma is a bitch.

If they stop right in front of you and you can't get around, just stay behind them and LAY on the horn.

This happens at a shopping plaza near my job. Rather than park in a designated spot, they simply park at the curb in front of whatever shop they're going to, blocking that lane of traffic. It's so utterly arrogant of them. They don't see it that way though. When I walk passed such a car, even if someone is inside, I drape my keys over the hood of their car. If they get angry I tell them it wouldn't have happened if they didn't park illegally in a fire lane.

My wife went shopping tonight with our 3 kids and our niece, she called me all pissed off.....

She wanted to pull into the parking spot designated for parents with children, normally when we're together we won't park there, but she was alone with 4 kids the following ages (10 months / 28 months / 4 yrs / 5 yrs)

She waited for a minivan to leave, that van backed out, and turned towards my wife's truck. My wife sitting there with her signal on watched a woman pull in, ignore her, and take the spot, before the minivan was out of the way for my wife to move.

My wife pulled up behind the lady, who was alone, and waited for her to exit her vehicle. My wife said to the woman that it was a spot reserved for people with children. The lady said "I'm sorry I didn't realize you were waiting for this spot" and walked away. My wife told her she needed to move because she didn't have kids with her, and the lady said "I'll only be a few minutes anyway"

My wife went to the store manager, who waited with her for the woman to return, and confronted her. He made the woman feel about 2 inches tall, I don't think she will ever park there again. Legally, there really isn't anything that can be done, it isn't like a wheelchair designated spot that has bylaws involved.

Merge lanes on the expressway! Assholes that do not understand that there is a purpose for the merge lanes. Move the fuck over or just plain let people get in.

I understand the use of it, but I get pissed off when there is some jackass going 120mph who speeds up behind me and wants me to hurry up and pass the guy next to me. Dude, I'm already going 15 over, chill the fuck out... crazy people.

Oh, and I can't stand that whenever there a slight curve on the freeway in NJ, EVERYONE slows down to almost a crawl... I don't know what's so fucking difficult about driving around a curve. You keep your foot on the gas. It is safer. Idiots.

And speaking of crawls.... I can't stand it when I'm on the side of highway traffic (you know, when the opposite direction is COMPLETELY SEPARATE from you?) that is unaffected by an accident..... but fucking GAWKERS slow traffic down to a crawl, just in case they might get to see a dead body or something.

.......I have a lot more traffic complaints since coming to NJ. I didn't really have any, back home.

Old people who slowly drift into your lane, no turn signal - then you give a blast on the horn, ride right up on their ass, following a foot behind, then swing around and swideswipe to give them a glare, you see they are just looking straight ahead and realize they are blissifully unaware of anything, they didn't even notice you, the horn, anything....or maybe they are looking side to side like they are befuddled and just woke up lol

The problem is that not all places have the same rules about merge lanes. Here in Ontario, the lanes are very long, it provides enough time for the merging vehicle to reach the speed of highway traffic and merge safely. We are not required to allow vehicles onto the highway, they are required to merge safely. As a vehicle already travelling down the highway, I don't have to speed up, slow down, or move over for a merging vehicle... they must adjust their speed to fit into (merge) into traffic. That being stated: I always allow people to merge, because I am a decent person, but I'm also aware that when I travel through the United States, I must move over or slow down / speed up to allow vehicles to merge.

Common courtesy seems to be gone.

What I hate is when two lanes are reduced to one lane ahead and traffic is almost stopped. If lane #1 is ending and you must move into lane #2, you should stay in lane 1 until you are the very first car in line, then move over. Each person in lane 2 needs to let one vehicle in from lane 1. For every vehicle that moves from the closing lane into the open lane early, they are actually slowing down the open lane and letting more cars past them. They are essentially sacrificing their rightful spot and holding up all the vehicles behind them by moving over early.

I know it seems backwards, and if you are sitting in lane #2 waiting to move forward and cars are going past you in lane #1, don't try to block them, it dosen't work anyway. The fastest way possible is for everyone to keep in their lane until the last possible moment.

Short merge lanes. One in particular I hate is Ontario Hwy 410 southbound going onto the 401 westbound. Frankly, the merge lane to get onto the 401 is too short. To top it off, once you get onto the 401 you need to immediately make another lane change or you'll be stuck getting off at the next exit.

Oh well, the good thing is traffic is almost always at a standstill in that section, making it easier to merge.

I wonder who the genius flunkie road designer who thought that one up was...

Not really a driver but...

The roads that are normally one lane that widen to two for a short period of time in what I have aptly named "testosterone lanes," wherein all of the (generally male) drivers swerve in and out of the lanes in an attempt to pass one another and become the first in line when the road narrows to one lane again, leaving you, the only sane driver on the road, trying very hard not to get run into a ditch.

Worse yet... the winner slows down to just below the speed limit after the lanes merge back again into one lane. Why the fuck did you pass everyone to begin with?

I wonder what the bad drivers that we bitch about here are talking about on their message boards?

I drive a school bus, so I have a list of things that piss me off. I deal with this for about 8 hours a day.. sometimes more.

1. People who think a school bus can stop REALLY fast! WTF... I'm doing 55 on the highway, I know that's annoying, but it's the law in Texas... and some jack ass wants to pass me and get between me and the car in front of me, which gives me like NO braking room if something happens, so I have to slow down, only to piss off the guy behind me, so he flies up, flips me off and speeds away.. meanwhile asshole in front is pissed that I'm on his ass so he keeps hitting his breaks.. so I put my blinker on to get away from him and no one will let a school bus over, NO ONE. I know it's annoying to get behind a school bus and they stop like very block and they have to sit there for a minute, but I'M ON THE FREAKIN' HIGHWAY~! I WILL NOT BE UNLOADING STUDENTS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON I-20! Jesus.

2. I guess I didn't need a two. I'm all pissed off thinking about that to remember anything else.
