This one is sorta true around here for whatever reason a lot of of gays seem to drive Subaru cars. I have several times seen guys making out at stop lights and 99% of the time its been a Subaru car they where in. Another guy here at work used to live in Utah and claimed it was the same way there. Maybe its just coincidence......every subie owner can't be living the alternative lifestyle can they?

Wagons are gay.

The coupes and sedans (i.e. sports and luxury cars) aren't.

There are a few kinds of Subaru owners:

Gay ones, who drive: Legacy wagons, Foresters, Impreza L's and Legacy Outbacks

Schoolteachers: (See vehicles above)

Rally buffs: Impreza WRX, Impreza WRX-STI, Forester XTs, Legacy GTs and Legacy Turbos, Impreza 2.5RS's and any cars posted above, but with minimum 6" diameter Hella driving lights across the front bumper, and usually an EJ20T swap.

People who heard they were good in snow: Who generally roll their car first snow because of overconfidence

Northern Vermont Vegans: Yeah.

I used to work at a Subaru dealership as a tech. 9 out of 10 cars that came in were owned by tweed jacket wearing middle aged women with short grey hair, big glasses and the radio was ALWAYS tuned to CBC Radio 1.

Lol, I "raced" one a few weeks ago. Another college kid, from a rival school. From a Red light onto the highway. Lost. I forgot his car weighs 1000lbs less than mine. (accounting for all the crap in my trunk)

Straightaway and then an uphill onramp and then downhill highway. 0-75MPH.

But once we got onto the highway my greater momentum downhill and not getting blown around by the wind as much gave me the advantage.

And LOLSNOW! They're good in the snow if you how to drive them. You can lose traction on one axle or one side of the car and not go off the road.

They are popular with the parents of teenagers because the parent's think "it'll be good in the winter and are reputably safe" and all the kids think is "IT HAZ TEH TURBOZ!"

I'll be upgrading to either an older 350Z or a LGT in a few years; insurance reasons.

Not to mention the great European wagons like the M5 or RS6. Actually, wagons are often better cars than crossovers or SUVs with better performance and fuel economy.

The issue is, people who don't know how to drive or know anything about cars think they can still drive as if it were a beautiful sunny day outside because it has AWD. I'd say 75% of Subaru write-offs is because of this.

The other 25% is WRX owners going way too fast.

People don't think their car could lose control and aren't prepared to react accordingly. By the time the do, it's too late to avoid an accident.

I "lost control" of my car once, two weeks into owning it, at 20MPH around a downhill corner because my hefty sorrel snow boot got stuck on the upper lip by the brake. I wanted to slow down more as I went into the corner, but my boot couldn't reach the brake. There was glare ice mixed with sleet atop the road.

I steered around the corner, onto the straightaway after it; physically reached down and unstuck the boot. I tapped the brakes until the car slowed down until I was swerving at 5MPH; the car still not able to regain traction on it's own. I said "this is retarded" and brought the car to a full stop, threw the E lights on for a second, ripped the boot off my foot, and drove to work barefoot. I didn't go off the road or into a snow bank because I had my head on the road and was aware that the car might lose traction; what surprised me wasn't that I started swerving but that I had to psychically bring the car to a halt before the car would regain traction.

It takes a lot but once traction goes, it goes.

I don't wear snow boots and drive anymore; haven't had a problem since.

everyone pisses and moans about FWD in the snow... there is a reason the e-brake is between the seats. i can't count the times that the happy happy ebrake saved my bacon while trying to negotiate many a snowy turn.

oh, and nothing grabs better than drum brakes in the snow...

A trick I learned to get up a steep icy dirt driveway with a small engine RWD pickup was give it a strong hit of gas so the momentum carried me up over the shitty part. Now I don't even think twice about making it up the driveway. I'm spoiled.

Edit: you should be able to make due with whatever vehicle you have. It's called compensating for your vehicle's weak points. No vehicle is perfect; except the Prius: Praise Toyota.

Lets get back to the lulz

I grew up with driving all FWD cars and never had traction issues like that. Since I have now the RWD Isuzu Rodeo, its like learning it all again.
