If I may nitpick a bit... Try warming the temp or reducing the blues in the sky. Otherwise it's an excellent shot at night. Just a little too blue for my nighttime taste.

It actually wasn't shot at night, but during twilight.. when the sky is particularly blue. I had the white-balance set to auto (my pictures are straight-out-of-camera). The sky in actual night shots does get warmer with this setting, though.

Actually, its neither. The flames you see are coming from jets spraying diesel onto the rail. The operator will ignite the diesel spray and heat the rail to the preferred rail laying temperature. Here is what it looks like during the day.

Via P42 "Genesis" and LRC coaches. Note the Hawker Siddeley single-level cars used by Ontario Northland.

The shortest VIA consist I ever did see: Two Budd stainless steel cars and an F40PH-2. Is this common on the Niagara Corridor?

A few trains on that corridor use an F40 + 2 SS cars, but you can find these sets every day on trains 85 & 88 between Toronto & Sarnia. By every day, I do mean every day.
