I was at a get together yesterday with Shutterbug. One thing we knew going in was that we were the only couple who don't have children. Fine, figured since these people had known us for years this would not be an issue.

Well, for two of the other folks, I was wrong. These folks were the parents of the host and I knew them for years so that was why they were there and that is why I kept my civility although I was ready to freak out on them.

There was one other friend who I hadn't seen since early summer so he and I were chatting mostly about work and other non-child stuff. He and his girlfriend had a baby girl this year so it's understandable why they were kept pretty busy. During our conversation, the host's mother butted in and said "Hey, the guy wants pictures of his daughter. He's not interested in what you have to say."

"Oh." I replied and turned to the guy and said "Sorry for keeping you from your pictures." The guy had a shocked look on his face and told me that he was getting pictures while we were talking and was enjoying our conversation. The host's mother then said "I don't want to butt in but really, he has more important things to talk about." I went quiet at that point as I had to bite back a very vulgar response to her. The guy I was chatting with was embarrassed as well and stepped out of the room.

Then, as I was trying to cool off, the mother's boyfriend then started asking why Shutterbug and I don't have kids of our own. I told him we don't have the time. He kept badgering me and I finally excused myself to use the washroom.
Later, I was still feeling pretty pissed off and had one hell of a time keeping civil with these two folks. They finally left (they weren't staying for dinner) and that was pretty much it for the night.

Even though I had cooled off, I felt like an outsider even though I was with family and long time friends. At this point, I don't know if I really want to accept any more invitations with these people as I'm worried that this is going to be a regular routine each time we attend a family function and the couple I mentioned are attending.

If you stop attending because 'they' want you to have kids... they win. Stand-up for yourself, stop telling people you don't have time for kids, tell them you don't want kids and that is the only explanation you will give.

It is extemely difficult for parents like myself to have time for our friends if activities don't involve the kids, so if I can escape the kids for a conversation with a dear friend, I will. Sounds like your friend was actually enjoying your conversation and fuck the asshole who stuck her nose in.

Thanks. I've cooled off so I'm able to think more clearly now. I'll be attending and when the questions start, I'll just tell them this is our decision and leave it at that.

Thanks for the ear folks and the advice Nvr2loud.

Some people think they are superior for having children... but they fail to realize that they really aren't at all. Almost anyone (short of people with reproductive problems) can have a kid. Not that hard to stick a penis into a vagina and repeat till something happens. It sounds like that woman was just being a cunt and having a holier than thou attitude. I wouldn't let it stop me from attending another party. Just avoid the bitch at all costs.

Hell, I had to go to the doctor to be 'broken' to prevent any more kids.... I think I'm superior now because it too some pain and effort to avoid getting someone pregnant. Like you stated, insert, withdraw, repeat, eventually out pops a kid. It is actually harder to make toast LOL

Next time ask the when the last time they had anal... when they look shocked and disgusted tell them that since they were asking invasive questions about your sex life, you figured your question was fair play... this tactic worked with my parents

Nice one.

I believe I may just have a great comeback. Of course, I may have to warn my hosts so they can break out the Depends.

Well, another Christmas has passed. The couple mentioned didn't show up for this year's party (other plans) so the question period didn't happen. Bit more relaxing this year.
