"P-230 and P-232 are quite similar internally. Both are simple blowback operated, hammer fired pistols, with double action triggers and a manual decocker levers mounted on the left side of the frame, behind the trigger. P-232 also featured automated firing pin safety. Both pistols lack the slide stop. Both pistols can be found in standard form, with steel slide and aluminium alloy frame and blue finish, or in SL versions, with both slide and frame made from stainless steel. Latter models are slightly heavier and wear a polished steel finish. P-232 featured drift-ajustable rear sights, dovetailed into the slide. Feed is from single stack magazines for 7 9mm or 8 7.65mm rounds. It should be noted that both P-230 and P-232 feature magazine catch, located at the heel of the grip. "

sounds like a good lil pocket gun, but i am not so hip on the .380 cal. kinds small round. but anything is better than nothing. how is the avail. of .380 ammo?

imho if a police force chooses it as a side arm than it sould be good for anyone. but i like alittle more stopping power. ymmv.

SIG always makes a fine weapon. However, the .380 is a poker table round, nothing more. If you are going to shoot someone, make it stick.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

too many stories of .380 (or 9mm for that matter) failing to penetrate heavy winter clothing or poking nice clean holes in someone that didnt know they were hit

if you have to shoot someone with a the little Kurtz shoot em in the face and run like Hell

theres some little 9s now same size as a P230 just stack some 125JHP +P in the mag prolly as small as Id care to go

dont fall into the trap of trying to compensate for power with velocity by using some light 85gr bullet in a short barrel this has been proven over and over to fail

keep that slug in that 3" tube long as you can to burn every grain of powder

the best little pocket piece to me would be a Makarov .380 conversion because it wont cost all that much if you have to toss it in the river

anyone ever shoot the little AMT .380?

i hear you guys on the caliber being a little weak. I usually carry a .45 but i couldnt beat the deal on it. I was able to trade a semi fubared para ordinance p12 for it. Just picked it up. Figure it will make a good summer carry weapon, easy to hide iwb under a t shirt. Im not worried about making it stick, it should be a hell of alot easier than the short barrel kimber. Just disassembled and cleaned it, its in 95% shape or better once it was cleaned up. .380s a little hard to find right now but all I really need is a good box of +p and it will be ok for defense. considering a new p232 is around 600 bucks, i dont think the deal could have been beat. its an completely W.german made model as well, not the half and half that they are nowadays. ill post up how it shoots as soon as i can get out with it...

Absolutely NO to .380.
Not now, not ever.
Forget it.

its a fine little piece man if the carry/summer clothes restriction dictates its better than no piece

Hell Ive carried my little TPH .22RF when wearing office clothes and cant conceal I even have a Hi Standard .22 derringer fits in a Galco wallet holster as a last ditch wont print through cloths etc

I like little guns had a .357 derringer for a while it was brutal to fire and the muzzle flash with Winchester ball powder was refuckingdiculous at night

Got another cool .22 pocket gun made by Auto Nine Corp, alloy frame hammerless six in the mag one in the tube Ive tried just about every common make of ammo never had a misfire or jam Id trust it if I had to

thats what i figure, the small gun is better than the big gun you left at home or in the truck. Shot it the other day, Im happy with it although theres definitely no shots over 10-15yds. It seems to shoot high consistently any farther away from the target than that.

You can always have a plastic surgeon modify your leg with an inset holster to accept a .45. Clothes will never show it.

I have the P232 in Stainless and absolutely love it. Grab some Speer Gold Dot bonded JHP's and you're good. I've had 3 .380's, had tons of fun making up my own little ballistics tests, and anyone who thinks it's weak can hop in front of it to prove me wrong. Yes, it's weaker than some, but it's a convenient round when it comes to size and size of the pistols it can be found in. I can hide my P232 in my waistband, pocket, etc., a lot easier than my full size P220/226 (Yes, I like Sig's a bit...)

The P230/232 style is convenient for and iwp holster (like "Uncle Mike's") and the fact that it's a Sig gives you that peace of mind that it's not going to break when you pull the trigger.

If you want the ability to carry something small, such as if you're dressed up, the Sig P230 is great... If you're expecting trouble, don't need to hide it, etc., the Sig P230 is a bit of an underdog. If you're getting it for a good deal, then grab it, form your own opinion, and if you don't want it, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.
